I designed this card for "Meet the **VERVE** Divas." The challenge was to use purple, which I do not use that often. Of course I used my Verve stamps I received in the mail yesterday! The Birthday Surprise stamp set reminds me of little girls and happy birthdays (although it could be used for much more). So, I decided to use this set for the purple challenge. The entire layout is cased from Dawn McVey. I really liked the stripes. I changed the colors (of course) and the stampe set used. I added the gift on top of the bow and adhered glitter to the design as well as the birthday hat, which is paper-pierced. A purple rhinestone is added to the top. The lighter purple is not pink, but a very light purple called lavender moon by Papertrey Ink. :: My Goodies ::Stamps: Verve Visual-Birthday Surprise Ink: PTI-Plum Pudding Paper: Cardstocks: PTI-White, Plum Pudding, Lavender Moon; SU!-Elegant Eggplant Accessories: PTI-saddle stitch plum pudding ribbon; SU!-scallop edge punch; Palette glitter; purple rhinestone Technique: Stamped Card Size: 4-1/4 x 5-1/2 For this card, I designed it for Verve's Gettin' Krafty Challenge. The challenge involved using kraft paper and anything natural. Well, this is right up my alley because I love naturals, rustics, and earth tones. I used the Abundant Blessings stamp set with kraft, brown, and red cardstocks. I stamped the larger flower, then popped a smaller flower off of it on red cardstock. The center is a dew dot. I tore the edges of the brown and red cardstock and adhered to the card base. Hemp twine is wrapped around the brown cardstock, then tied in a knot and bow. The sentiment is stamped on distressed kraft cardstock. :: My Goodies ::Stamps: Verve Visual-Abundant Blessings Ink: SU!-Chocolate Chip Paper: Cardstocks: PTI-Kraft, Poppy; SU!-Chocolate Chip Accessories: dimensionals; dew dots; hemp twine; distresser Technique: Stamped Card Size: 4-1/4 x 5-1/2
The weekend is over already. How quickly it passes. Today, I decided to share a few cards I made a couple of weeks ago. I really like Bazzill Basics Navel cardstock. Guess what? My Stampin' Up! order arrived yesterday! So, I put all of my stamps together and selected Pocket Silhouettes (my favorite set for this release) to do some quick cards. Today's Fast Friday Cards are a boxed set of various cards. They were simple to make and took about an hour. If I used the same materials/colors, I'm sure this could have been done in half the time. But, I decided to make the set of cards diverse with various sentiments. They all feature a white card base. I embossed the sentiments on coordinating cardstocks in white filigree embossing powder (new at Papertrey Ink for detailed stamps). :: My Goodies ::Stamps: SU!-Pocket Silhouettes, Best Yet Ink: SU!-Chocolate Chip; Versamark Paper: Cardstocks: PTI-Stamper's Select White; SU!-Chocolate Chip Accessories: dimensionals; white filigree embossing powder; PTI-chocolate chip polka dot ribbon Technique: Stamped ; Heat Embossed Card Size: 4-1/4 x 5-1/2 :: My Goodies ::Stamps: SU!-Pocket Silhouettes, On Your Birthday Ink: CTMH-Cranberry; Versamark Paper: Cardstocks: PTI-Stamper's Select White, Poppy Accessories: dimensionals; white filigree embossing powder; PTI-poppy saddle stitch ribbon Technique: Stamped ; Heat Embossed Card Size: 4-1/4 x 5-1/2 :: My Goodies ::Stamps: SU!-Pocket Silhouettes; CTMH-Say it in Style Ink: SU!-Kiwi Kiss; Versamark Paper: Cardstocks: PTI-Stamper's Select White; SU!-Chocolate Chip, Kiwi Kiss Accessories: dimensionals; white filigree embossing powder; PTI-spring moss polka dot ribbon Technique: Stamped ; Heat Embossed Card Size: 4-1/4 x 5-1/2

Just testing out my new stamp set from Papertrey Ink, Remember. These flowers were a must-have in my stamp collection. The sent includes all of those thank you sentiments, but the images can be used for anything. I coupled this stamp set with Birthday Basics. A very easy 10-minute card (if that). Most of their stamps come with a handstamped image so you can personalize the back and also adhere to their Angel Policy. What I like about Papertrey Ink are their high-quality products. No other supplier sells heavy cardstock like they do. Their stamper's select white cardstock is the best to stamp on - as well as all of their other colors. They have a variety of colors to choose from with matching ribbons and ink to complete an entire project. The other reason Papertrey Ink is one of my top favorites is because they have a release of new products every month! That means there is no catalog of products you are looking at over and over. There is always something new. And for those who know me, I love new...(hint hint - A NEW DESIGN)! Papertrey Ink also offers a forum and contests every month. I have decided to participate this time for Guest Star Stamper, so I'll let you know about that. Last, but not least, their prices. The reason I mentioned them last is because their prices are very reasonable. Their stamps are very versatile and worth every penny. Anyway, if you have not visited their site before, please do. Nichole Heady, part owner of Papertrey, has great ideas and is very in tune with the paper craft world. :: My Goodies ::Stamps: PTI-Remember, Birthday Basics Ink: SU!-Chocolate Chip; PTI-Summer Sunrise, Spring Moss Paper: Cardstocks: PTI-Stamper's Select White Accessories: dimensionals; PTI-summer sunrise grosgrain ribbon Technique: Stamped Card Size: 4-1/4 x 5-1/2
It's that time of the week again...for Beate's Inspiration Challenge. This week's inspiration is sponsored by Simrin glassware. These glasses are so neato (remember that word?). For this challenge, I was inspired by the frosty glasses, the branches, and of course some of the colors! I decided to design a mini-card this time! To start, the card base is trimmed to size. Square nestabilities are used to create the window. An additional two square nestabilities are used to die cut the 'frame.' The branches are stamped on vellum paper and heat embossed. Trim around the excess to fit the window and adhere to the reverse side of the window. Add ribbon, sentiment, and flower + button. Voila...a mini window card. :: My Goodies ::Stamps: Clearly Wordsworth-Comfort (branches); PTI-Remember (sentiment) Ink: SU! Chocolate Chip; Versamark Paper: Cardstocks: Taupe; SU!-Chocolate Chip; Bazzill Navel; Recollections-vellum Accessories: dimensionals; prima flower; button; hemp twine; satin ribbon Technique: Stamped ; Heat Embossed Card Size: 3.5 x 3.5 I took this photo using my new Sony Cybershot! It's so crisp, you can almost feel the embossing! Oh yeah...no Wii for me last night...WAY too sore! So, I indulged in Rita's Italian Ice (Raspberry Lemonade + Mango) and some Famous Daves BBQ! Everyone deserves a small reward! Happy Hump Day!!!!
This new released stamped set by SU! was a must-have in my studio. I really liked the natural elements of the grass. The sentiments are...well self-explanatory. I added flowers from a retired SU! set. The card is very simple, but packs a lot of purpose and style. It can serve any occassion...really. So, what did I do last night? I did play with the new camera a little bit. This picture is not using the new camera. I'll let you know when I've switched officially! I played the Wii and boy my back and arms are more sore! My Wii Fitness Age is...26, much younger than my current age, so needless to say, I'm very pleased! I also squeezed in a little time to create 3 cards, one of which will probably be my holiday card. The other two cards, I'll share later this week. Enjoy the rest of your day and remember to live with passion...you only get one life! :: My Goodies ::Stamps: SU!-All about U (flowers), Inspired by Nature (grass + sentiment) Ink: CTMH-Topiary, Autumn Terracotta Paper: Cardstocks: CTMH-Buttercup, Topiary; SU!-Vanilla; Bazzill Navel Accessories: dimensionals Technique: Stamped Card Size: 4-1/4 x 5-1/2
Just in time for fall! Autumn starts today around 11:45 am EST. The colors are always so beautiful. This card reflects the start of a new season. I used my Scor-Pal at the bottom to score a few lines for added dimension. I kept it simple since it is for a man who is having surgery next month. I hope the colors lift his spirits. I am waiting on my first SU! order. I took a long time to decide exactly what I want, now I just cannot wait for it to get here! I did get my PTI order last week, so I'm sure I'll be playing with that set this week! This weekend, I purchased a new camera! It is the Sony DSC-H50. Boy, that camera is BAD! I wanted something major, but 'cute'...meaning in size. The big cameras and the idea of changing lenses and flashes does not appeal to me, but their specs do, so that's why I decided on the Sony. I have not gotten a chance to play with it like I wanted because I went to the movies to see the new Samuel Jackson movie, Lakeview Terrace and also played the Wii...hard and today my arms hurt! We played the Wii Fit and a new one called Game Party. I will be playing this more this week. It includes favorites such as trivia, skee ball, beer pong, and shuffleboard. But, my all-time favorite is bowling on Wii Sports. Needless to say, that's how I threw my arm out! I hope to play more and do some crafting and photography this week. We'll see what takes precendence! Anyway, I will post some photography shots as well as I embark on a new 'related' hobby. Boldlifestyle is going to start hosting photography challenges. Recently, I embarked on quick and easy cards mission. Hopefully, I can make plenty for great holiday gifts! The pattern paper used in all of the cards are scraps I won at Tessa's card class at Scrapdoodles. And here we are again for this week's K. Werner Color Challenge. This card is also a preview of my Thanksgiving holiday card series. I will design a couple more to choose from if you like to give Thanksgiving cards. For the color challenge, I experienced extreme difficulty. Although the earth tones are warm and inviting, which I love, I was having difficulty coming up with a design idea. Finally, after some mishaps, I thought about my wreath stamp and starting my Thanksgiving card line. I heat embossed the wreath, first using craft chocolate chip, then heat embossed with clear embossing powder. I adorned the wreath with brown and copper stickles. I carefully cut out the wreath and popped it off of the pumpkin cardstock. I matted it on burgundy cardstock and tore the bottom edge. Pumpkin satin ribbon is tied across the burgundy cardstock for elegance. The focal point is popped off of green cardstock, also torn at the bottom, which is adhered to a brown card base. :: My Goodies ::Stamps: CTMH - Say it in Style (sentiment); Inkadinkado (wreath) Ink: SU! Back for this week's Be Inspired Challenge. This weeks inspiration is from CB2. The designs are so clean, yet modern. For this challenge, I was inspired by the colors, pattern, and room layout. So, I selected a striped pattern paper and a solid cardstock. Next, I selected a foliage stamp and stamped in a lighter orange, then a darker orange. I stamped the sentiment in the darker of the two oranges and added a brown ribbon. :: My Goodies ::Stamps: PTI - Father Knows Best (sentiment); Inkadinkado (foliage) Ink: CTMH - Autumn Teracotta; PTI - Summer Sunrise Paper: Cardstocks: SU! Sorry guys, I have no posting for you this morning. I probably will post this evening, so check back later. In the meantime, I do have some blog candy you can sign up for! It's almost time for the holidays, which means paper crafters must get busy on ideas and projects. I am currently designing my holiday cards for this year and will reveal them later this month. So, courtesy of Jacksonbelle Embellishments, I have a Cuttlebug embossing folder to give away! It is Christmas Ornaments and is perfect holiday cards. Just post a comment on what is your favorite holiday memory or tradition and you will be entered in the drawing. The drawing will close on Thursday night and I will select a winner on Friday morning. Please, only one entry per person. So, I hope that me not posting my project (that just has not been photographed) ends up being good for you!
I hope everyone had a great weekend. My weekend was full, but fabulous! I created a card last night, but thought I'd share one that was a little unique that I made last week. I hope you like it! To create this card, I took the brown cardstock, cut to size (half of a 8.5 x 11 sheet), then scored in half (at 5.5). Next, I trimmed a piece of the green cardstock to fit the width of the paper (4.25). I used my precision scissors to snip the edges to create 'grass.' I stamped the trees on kraft cardstock, then cut the images out. For the sentiment, I opened Microsoft Word, typed what the customer requested, selected the font (Ram Rod) and color (brown), then printed it on a scrap piece of kraft cardstock. I adhered the trees to the card; one behind the grass and the other popping off in front of the grass. I placed the sentiment at the bottom center and added two brown buttons to the sides. Twine is used as thread for the 'sewn' on look. :: My Goodies ::Stamps: PTI - Father Knows Best (trees) Ink: SU! Chocolate Chip; CTMH - Topiary Paper: Cardstocks: PTI- kraft; SU! First, I'd like to send a shout out to Splitcoast Stampers. This layout is courtesy of Splitcoast Stampers card sketch for this week. I changed a couple of thinigs about the layout, but not that much. Now, onto the card. I did a lot of layering (as the sketch challenge outlined) and distressed to make it masculine. I typically do not stamp on pattern paper, but it worked here. Somehow...I was able to stamp right in the middle of the print...how devine! I distressed the "31" with white chalk to 'age' it. Today, is Mac's birthday, so I decided to do a posting especially for him. He hasn't even seen this card yet, but he will now :) He is obviously 31 today. He's not old, but older than me and I say that he likes to have a younger woman in her twenties! It's great to celebrate birthdays and he REALLY loves to celebrate his. I have known Mac for 16 years, with him for 11 years, and married for 3 years (well ALMOST). So, here are 31 top reasons I am happy to celebrate his 31st with him today: - to share this journey of life with him + his love
- to be able to see those good looks
- to have his smile brighten up my day
- the charm that no one can imitate
- his appreciation of the arts
- his understanding...of ME
- his negotiation skills (even if I am embarrassed sometimes)
- his desire for travel
- his appreciation for photography
- his honesty
- his spiritual based beliefs that we share
- his web savvy
- his simple pallette of PB & J sandwiches
- his ability to accept change
- his silly personality
- his love for Ozzy (our dog)
- his love for my cooking
- his interest in electronic gadgets
- his desire to be better
- his ability to have fun...all of the time
- his tidyness
- his appreciation of conversation
- his non-obsession with sports (WOOO!)
- his laugh
- his gap
- his attentiveness to me
- his successful career
- his ability with people...ALL people
- how he makes "friends' everywhere...all of the time
- his charisma
- his non-aging appearance - you wear 31 well!

Once again, I am participating in Kristina's Color Challenge for this week. This is an inspiring shower curtain by PB Teen. One of my favorite items in my paper art stash are my nestabilities. I have squares, ovals, rectangles, circles and all of their scallop counterparts. I cannot wait for the labels 1 dies to go on sale! I have used them to create die cuts, but not really for embossing. To create simple cards, I wanted to do card front embossing. By the way, I use a Cuttlebug. To create this look, follow these steps: 1. Lay your A plate down 2. Lay your B plate down 3. Take your die, place it face down on the card front where you want it 4. Hold the die down in place, then quickly flip it over and place on top of the B plate 5. 3 layers of heavy cardstock (my preference is Papertrey Ink) cut into 5x7 pieces to fit 6. Spellbinders tan polymer mat 7. Lay your second B plate down 8. Run it through the Cuttlebug I stamped the flowers in the center of the embossed square, then stamped the sentiment below and added ribbon. Next time around, I think I will not die cut the center. I think I like your traditional card without any "holes!" I embossed first, then I die-cut the circle. For the basketball, I stamped it in VersaMark, then heat embossed with black powder. I punched the ball with a Marvy circle punch (easy)! I layered the inside of the card with black and orange cardstocks. I used the organe part to write my greeting. Back to the front...I cut a couple of black strips and adhered them to the card base, then popped the sentiment off with black brads. I thought I would try something new and different. This picture does not do this card any justice! The card features a lightly ink stamped with flowers, polka dots, and the sentiment. My motivation was to make it monochromatic, using Papertrey Ink's "perfect match" cardstock, ribbon, and ink of aqua mist. Well, I think it looks washed out. In person, it looks a little better. I used Beate's Inspiration Challenge to think of trying this technique. So, in the end I think I learned something. Don't do that again, UNLESS it is to create a background design. In person, I have received good feedback, I think because of its simplicity. But, this is way too simple for me. I like COLOR! So, this is just to show you an example of my 'not so perfect world' in paper art! Edited to Add: I am no longer a Stampin' Up demonstrator. Sorry!
I don't always stamp and make cards or other 'stuff.' On Sunday, I went to a cooking demo at Williams-Sonoma. I really like that store, but it's quite pricey. I only purchased some of their sauces for quick "make ahead meals." Some of their items will definitely be on my wish list for the holidays! I love food and preparing it, but not baking. I'm not into sweets at all. For most, that is a shocker. I'd take a bowl of mashed potatoes over a piece of chocolate cake any day! Anyway, my DH finally installed shelves in my closet in my studio, which means...MORE SPACE to store all of my goodies! So, last night I made a couple of cards while I watched (and helped) him install the shelves. Then, I started organizing. My studio looks like an F5 tornado or category 5 hurricane made landfall. I'm not sure how I've been working in there, but I made do! I did not finish cleaning...well...because I was overwhelmed with all of this STUFF. So, I hope to get finished in the next two days, making sure I put things away where I want them and can work in organized harmony. This is a new stamp I purchased at Scrapdoodles. It is by Maya Road. I even made a holiday card from this stamp set, which only comes with a tree, apple, and bird. I'll share the holiday card later once I finish my holiday card collection for this year. This card was simple to make. I did it while watching one of the four movies we watched over the weekend (during tropical storm Hanna). We watched Vantage Point, Dexter (season 2), Prom Night, and Meet the Browns. All of them were very enjoyable. It was perfect movie-watching + stamping weather! I stamped the tree + sentiment on the kraft cardstock. The bird was stamped on a scrap piece of kraft cardstock, then cut out. I adhered the kraft cardstock to the blue cardstock. A brown satin ribbon is tied around the blue cardstock. I added the patter paper and adhered them all to the card base. The final touch was the bird popping off and stickles on the tree. These are some of the branches of my tree! :: My Goodies ::Stamps: Maya Road - Tree Stamp (tree + bird); PTI-Piece of Cake (sentiment) Ink: SU! This is a case of my card here. The request was to replicate the original card, but everyone should know I hate duplicating cards, so I changed one tiny thing to "improve" it. I added paper flowers with pink rhinestone centers. It is kind of like fondant flowers, right? :: My Goodies ::Stamps: PTI-Piece of Cake Ink: SU! Kiwi Kiss; Versamark; Pink Paper: Cardstocks: PTI-spring moss (green), white Accessories: pink grosgrain ribbon; MM paper flowers; KaiserCraft pink rhinestones Technique: Stamped ; heat embossed Card Size: 4-1/4 x 5-1/2 The concept for this card started with something "girly and pink" for a 12-year old. So, immediately I selected one of my many flower stamp sets and stamped three flowers. The background is stamped in pink on green cardstock, then the overlay details are stamped in brown ink. I cut each flower out and popped them off of brown squares, which are also popped off of the card base. All of it is hidden behind a pink grosgrain ribbon. I stamped the sentiment below. I will probably replicate this card because I like its simplicity without the name. But, I was supposed to personalize it for Courtney, so I stamped her name on pink cardstock and cut each letter out to adhere to the card base in a quirky format. :: My Goodies ::Stamps: PTI-Garden of Life (flowers); Father Knows Best (sentiment); Michael's dollar alpha stamps Ink: SU! I will probably show you later this week. I even used it to start off my holiday card templates. I am getting excited about holiday cards, but also apprehensive about the projected work load! Happy Monday!
This week's K. Werner Color Challenge is to use the following color choices in your design. To get myself started, I pulled out all shades of cardstock I wanted to use. No pattern paper this time! Then, I selected the stamps that I considered to use. Slowly, but surely, I created the design. I added diamond stickles to make it sparkle. Only my sister would appreciate this. She loves anything bling and be dazzled! Then, somehow it just falls together. Most of the time, there is no method to the madness. I love creativity and originality. It provides such an accomplished feeling. Sometimes, I ask my husband for his take on some options, just to see what he thinks...and to make him feel a part of the entire design process! :: My Goodies ::Stamps: Sentiment: PTI-Garden of Life; Images: Inkadinkado from JoAnn Fabrics Ink: SU! This card was a requested case of this card. The only stipulations were to add blue and try to make more masculine since it is to a couple. So, I decided to keep it simple and use light blue, chocolate, and vanilla. I stamped the background flourish/flower images, then placed the brown grosgrain ribbon across the bottom. I stamped the sentiment on blue cardstock, then matted on vanilla. I stamped all of the flowers, cut them out, then popped them off the card using pop dots (my favorite supply). A crop-a-dile is used to set the brown eyelets on the sentiment card. :: My Goodies ::Stamps: SU! Werner Color Challenge later this evening when I get a chance to photograph my card! Thanks for visiting today. It's almost the weekend!
This post is in remembrance of my great uncle, Basil. He passed away last week. He was 83 years old and everyone loved him dearly. This photo was taken at my wedding in 2005. He was upset I walked myself down the aisle, saying he could have walked me. But, my mom had to assure him that I did what I wanted to do. You will be missed. This card is for his wife and immediate family. It was inspired by Beate's Inspiration Challenge. I used the Pottery Barn console table as my focal feature and some of the colors as well. The flowers at the top were inspired by the picture and the vase. The torn edge was inspired by the varying level of books in the baskets below the table. My husband noticed that I designed the card in threes - meaning, I have 3 feathers, 3 leaves, 3 leaves on the stem, and 3 branches of flowers stamped at the top. I liked how he broke down my design and said it was for the past, present, and future. One of the floral branches at the top was stamped on yellow cardstock, then carefully cut out and adhered to the paper. Stickles were used to create dimension. :: My Goodies ::Stamps: MSE; Artfully Asian Ink: Brown Craft Paper: Cardstock: Bazzill Basics Canteloupe, Green, PTI Kraft, Lemon Tart Accessories: square punch: Creative Memories; stickles; crop-a-dile; eyelets Technique: Stamped
