These two cards are some masculine birthday cards, which are kind of hard for me to do because I love to add flowers and be dazzles to everything! But, I like the way they turned out because of their simplicity and of course the earth tones I love! I cased my own card again and you can find it here. I embossed the happy birthday (top portion) using my Cuttlebug and Happy Birthday embossing folder on vanilla cardstock. I inked the negative side of the embossing folder (the side with the logo) to get this effect! I added the green pattern paper below from Target and a satin ribbon to finish it off. My GoodiesInk: Brown Paper: Vanilla; Marcella pattern adhesive mat stack from Target Accessories: ribbon; cuttlebug Technique: Embossed
I designed this card by first stamping the vanilla cardstock with a sandpaper background stamp in light brown ink. I added the stripe pattern paper, along with kraft and brown cardstock. I stamped the sentiment on vanilla cardstock and matted it on kraft cardstock. I tied natural hemp around the card for the finishing masculine element. My GoodiesStamp: PTI Out on a Limb; SU! Sanded Ink: Desert Sand (CTMH) Paper: PTI kraft; brown, vanilla; Pattern Paper - unknown Accessories: Natural Hemp (CTMH) Technique: Stamped
For all of my blog readers, I decided to give you a sneak peek at the new web site to open on July 1! Most of you have probably seen the "entry" page pictured left. It simulates my online storefront and gives you the option to find out about us, shop, or blog. The about and shop links will be available on July 1! The blog link is already active and takes you here! It also matches my online store design. This is the shopping homepage. It features a flash picture viewer of various supplies I use to create my paper art. All photos are courtesy of Bold Lifestyle Photography. The "Shoppe" gives you the option to view several categories of projects from cards to scrapbooks. Please visit the Shoppe often as items will be added each week. Pictured left is a screen shot of how the cards shoppe looks. You have the option to select various sub-categories of types of cards. This picture is for birthday cards. It gives you a short abstract about each item and allows you to add it to your cart. You also can click on each product for a single review. The web site allows you to write reviews about items purchased and sign up as a customer. You must use PayPal to make a purchase. You do not have to have a PayPal account to make a purchase via PayPal. Shipping will be by USPS at the lowest cost, unless specified by a customer for faster shipment in the 'special notes.' There are a bunch of other neat options on the site, so on Tuesday, make sure you go and browse around! Until then, you can see before everyone else!
That's right...I have a new blog look! If you are viewing this post via your e-mail or by some other RSS feed, click here to view my new blog look! It is a custom design by Girly by Design, who has designed my entire web marketing scheme. My shopping site will go live very soon as I test a few options to make sure everything works properly. I hope July 1 will mark the Grand Opening date! Send me a comment...let me know what you think so far! Have a good weekend!
I made this card with limited supplies, so to be honest...I don't like it! It looks unfinished, so I will re-post it with more to it later. I think I am going to add brads or flowers to the empty space on the right! I'm just not your average "Plain Jane" and neither are my cards, so this one bothers me! The stamp set is great and by a new company called October Afternoon. I have a calendar stamp set by them as well to make desktop calendars! Their stamps are of good quality and stamp well. My GoodiesStamp: October Afternoon (Night Owl) Ink: Brown Paper: PTI summer sunrise; brown, vanilla Accessories: NONE and SCREAMING TO ADD MORE! Technique: Stamped This was a special request for the blue/brown lover! I stamped the birds - to make them kiss - in brown ink on vanilla cardstock. The edges are distressed. I popped off of a blue/brown pattern paper and placed on brown card base. I added clear dew dots on the right side of the card.
My GoodiesStamp: Verve Visual (Anniversary Birds) Ink: Brown Paper: brown, vanilla, (scrap pattern paper) Accessories: dew dots Technique: Stamped
To end this post, I'll leave you with "Live...Laugh...Love" for the weekend. It's important to be grateful for the 'free' stuff we all have. So, have fun and love one another!
Web Site Update My shopping web site is basically complete. I have some kinks to straighten out, but I have products and everything! As soon as my blog design is transformed and I create some more products and 'test' out everything, I will go live! So, look for a "Grand Opening" next month!!!
Of All the Beads is a custom handmade jewelry business where I purchase some of my jewelry. Of All the Beads is located in the Washington DC area and will create any jewelry designs or fix those priceless heirlooms. Hazel, the owner is fabulous and will work with you to fit your design needs! I am using one of my recent purchases as color inspiration to create the card below. Although my card does not do the necklace any justice, I thought as color inspiration, it was close enough! This tangerine turquoise necklace is quite a spectacle. It adds much needed class to any outfit. The necklace features a sterling silver magnetic clasp. This card is not my typical style, but I thought it was unique! I stamped the right side of the card with rose buds in orange ink (hard to see in the picture, unless you 'blow it up'). I layered pattern card stock on top of yellow and brown card stock to the card base. I added a tab stamped with "Birthday Wishes" to the side and tied a ribbon around the main focal point. "From all of us" was printed on the computer on vanilla card stock and matted on brown card stock. I placed three brads on the left side and popped it off the page. I rounded the top right corner of the card for the more 'office' feel because this was a card to a co-worker from a lot of other co-workers! My GoodiesStamp: Verve Visual (Birthday Wishes); PTI Garden of Life (rose buds) Ink: Brown Paper: PTI summer sunrise, lemon tart; brown; vanilla Accessories: brads; ribbon Technique: Stamped
Here are a couple of pictures of the canvas scrapbook I created by Quick Quotes. They have a lot of variety to select from using canvas', my new favorite scrapbooking element! I had a couple other pictures, but never got around to editing them, so here are a few. I'll post the others later this week. The book can close and be carried with you or open it up (as shown) for display. I embellished both sides to get the most out of it and offer options on pictures. This book is for the first communion. I used the most captivating pictures that told the story of the event. I embellished with ribbons, buttons, and faith-related sayings I printed out on vellum paper, which is a great alternative than actually buying quick quotes...make your own! The powder puffs (chalk inks) that Quick Quotes carries are great! They ink the canvas' extremely well. You will be seeing more versions of canvas scrapbooks, but I'll start creating them from scratch! Thanks for stopping by!
I designed this girly princess birthday card using a retired Stampin' Up! hostess set. I thought I would use the stamps mostly for weddings (because there is also a dress and umbrella - for showers - in the set), but I discovered it is quite versatile. I stamped the cake and the candles in black ink. Then, I colored in the flowers and flames using my markers. Last, I added various colored stickles to the center for glitter and pop. I matted it on a scalloped edge square nestabilities die-cut and popped off of the purple card base. I placed a ribbon around the card base and tied a knot. At the bottom, I stamped the sentiment and added pink rhinestones to each side for balance. I am still editing the pictures of the canvas book I can't wait to show you! Hopefully, I will post it tomorrow! My GoodiesStamp: CTMH Say it in Style (happy birthday); SU! Blooming with Happiness Ink: Black Paper: CTMH purple; PTI pink, white Accessories: American Craft ribbon; KI Memories rhinestones; Square Nestabilities; Cuttlebug; ZIP Markers; Stickles Technique: Stamped
I hope you all had a great weekend! I had a full weekend and accomplished a lot! The convention was great. They had a lot of vendors. It all depends on your 'taste' of paper craft supplies, but there was something there for everyone! My favorite vendor was Quick Quotes. I am now a fan of incorporating canvas into paper art! I'll share a canvas mini book I finished on Saturday with you tomorrow. I have to finish editing some of the pictures! This is a BABY chipboard album I started MONTHS ago. I finally decided to embellish it. How could I complete the most tedious part and not do the most fun part...accessorize! So, after finishing my canvas album, I started added crazy stuff to this one! The book is bound by three rings with ribbon and waxy flaxy. The chipboard spells BABY. The first page has a vellum saying, flowers, ribbon and thickers to adorn. This is the back of the B and the front of the A. I added 'adorable' to the A page. This is the back of the A and the front of the second B. The A features a pocket insert for baby information and some buttons. The B is embellished with an oversized paper clip and ribbon This is the back of the B and the front of the Y. The paper clip is continued on the back. A vellum quote is used on this page. The Y features a few mats for pictures and ribbon! A lot of people leave the back plain, but if there's space...I fill it! A larger picture can be placed here. Flowers and ribbon are seem from all angles of this book!
I'm so excited! This morning, I am heading out to the Great American Scrapbook Convention in Chantilly, VA. I did not register for any classes, but will be taking advantage of the "Make and Takes" and any other special offers vendors will be offering! I'll be sure to tell you all about it since this will be my first time as an attendee! I was commissioned to create a wine bag with a matching card for a birthday. I started designing this combo with the bag. First, I covered majority of the bag with pattern paper. I just picked it up last Friday from Scrapdoodles and LOVE IT! Next, I applied the blue cardstock to the top portion of the bag. To make finish the look, I applied ribbon around the two, then adhered to the bag. I placed flowers to the left corner of the bag and added inked stamens for a realistic flower appeal. I popped on thickers to personalize the bag, then stamped the sentiment in an off-centered position in brown ink. Here, you can see the both bag and card together as an 'ensemble.' From what I hear, Amy's husband recently was deployed to Iraq for the first time (and deployed anywhere for the first time in his nearly 20 years of service), so needless to say, this is a very difficult time. However, it is still her birthday and friends want to celebrate with her and definitely pick her up. I hope the wine...oh yeah and the bag and card help to make her feel juuuuuust a little better! To create the card, I had a difficult time at first. Then, I got the nifty idea to cut out the design images of the pattern paper and adhere them to the card base. I affixed all of them flatly to the card base, except the one in the center, which I popped off. I added the sentiment in brown ink around the popped image for the finishing touch. My GoodiesStamp: PTI-Garden of Life (happy birthday) Ink: Brown Paper: KI Memories-Bloom-"Parasol"; Bazzil Basics blue cardstock Accessories: American Craft Thickers; Brown ribbon; Prima Flowers Technique: Stamped
This is a simple birthday card I created the other night. Although it looks well thought out and designed, I actually had to cross some hurdles to decide on this final design. I started out with stamping leave on the card stock, then thought it did not look right. So, instead of wasting paper, I just covered it and made a new creation. I like this one MUCH better! My GoodiesStamp: PTI-Out on a Limb (birthday wishes) Ink: White Paper: 29th Street Market - "Fresh Beauty Perfect Posies Greenery"; Chocolate Chip Accessories: American Craft Thickers; Ribbon Charm; PTI Aqua Mist ribbon; Brown ribbon Technique: Stamped
"On Your Retirement" circle tag was created with rub-ons. I rubbed on each letter to create the phrase. Then, "Congrats!" was stamped. It looked plain, so I jazzed it up with rhinestones. The circles were die-cuts of nestabilities using my cuttlebug. I stamped the background pattern with versamark, then heat embossed with a chocolate powder. I added a satin ribbon for elegance! My GoodiesStamp: Inkadinkado Ink: Chocolate Chip; VersaMark Paper: Bazzil Basics Canteloupe Accessories: Craft dryer, Chocolate Emboss Powder, Rhinestones, Rub-Ons, Ribbon, Hodgepodge Kit, Circle Nestabilities, Cuttlebug Technique: Stamped
To send simple, yet fun "birthday wishes," I stamped the design three times with three separate inks. I cut each image out and then adhered the two on the end. I popped the image in the center for dimension. All images were mounted on top of three cardstocks that matched the ink used. I added a ribbon and ribbon charm over the canteloupe cardstock and three brads on the opposite side. For an added element, I stamped a portion of the envelope and used stickles for glitter. My GoodiesStamp: AmyButler K&Co Stamp Ink: CTMH Garden Green; Autumn Terracotta; Desert Sand Paper: PTI-kraft; Bazzil Basics Canteloupe, Green, Brown Accessories: ribbon; brads; ribbon charm Technique: Stamped
I'm so excited! Today, my replacement part for the 3M Scotch ATG 714 arrived. It was a bit of a pain to take the rear gear rewind completely apart, but neat at the same time--if that makes any sense! My replacement rewind gear came with easy instructions. I replaced the rewind hub gear and my adhesive applicator works with much ease! So, if you have one and the tension gets tight near the middle of your tape and breaks the tape, then you need to contact 3M immediately. Please read my previous posts here and here for more information. 3M is also sending me 3 rolls of adhesive for free for all the headache I put up with! If you want to order bulk adhesive, try Framing Supplies because they offer great prices. I ordered a dozen rolls @ $3 each on Friday and they arrived on Monday - so FAST SHIPPING! Armel also has adhesive for this applicator for the BEST price, but you have to catch them while they are in stock. Every time I call, they are out of stock. They have it for the lowest price per roll I have researched so far! Either of these options beats your local scrapbook store at $6 or more per roll! For other related reviews, click here!
Not just cards, but I can also do invitations, save-the-dates, and anything paper art! Here is a save-the-date I created last week. It is for a family reunion. No, your eyes are not playing tricks on you, I blurred all of the personal information. On the computer, I generated the layout (well, I requisitioned a professional...my sister)! I changed the font and color. Next, I stamped the tree branch in brown ink and stamped the white flower petals. I added blue pearl and diamond stickles to the center. I did not stop there. I carried over the stamped image to the outside of the envelope with the opposite color scheme: blue flowers with white and diamond stickle centers. Also, the customer requested a quote to be printed on the flap of the back side of the envelope. I did not show that, but it was a quote of limbs and roots, which follow along with the family reunion and tree limb theme! Here is how I presented it to the customer; all bundled in a matching blue ribbon! I used kraft cardstock from PTI, then matted it on a Bazzill blue cardstock, then on to a Bazzill chocolate cardstcok. Pictured left, is the finished stack!
Scrapdoodles, Fredericksburg, VAI've been to Scrapdoodles a couple of times and forgot to write a review! On Friday, I stopped by Scrapdoodles with a review posting in mind. This time, when I entered the store, I was not greeted by anyone; however, I did notice other customers were greeted when they entered. So, perhaps the sales persons were a little busy when I walked in. I am not the type of customer who needs to be greeted at the door, so this does not bother me. The store is organized somewhat well. They have certain themes, such as baby, wedding, etc. in certain 'departments.' But, some areas overlapped. For instance, I was interested in getting a lot of chipboard letters. Well, they had a few colors in one department, then more colors I found elsewhere. If I had not gone through the store with a fine-tooth comb, then I could have missed it (also if I did not ask for additional colors). The sales persons were friendly and asked if I needed any assistance. Their selection of scrap-products is amazing. They have almost everything that you could think of. If you are interested in chipboard books or alterable projects, they have an outstanding collection. They also carry the new Bazzill Basics shortcut strips! Their collection of chipboard letters and thickers was also extensive. Scrapdoodles has a great selection of pattern paper and cardstock. They offer a workshop area in the rear of the store with crops on the weekends. They also offer classes for those interested. Scrapdoodles is a great place to stop when you are on the I-95 corridor between DC and Richmond! They are sure to have the leading and newest products. I picked up a few new stamp sets that I did not know were out yet. The sales person gave me a bit of background on them. When I use them (hopefully one set tonight), I will let you know the information! I highly recommend Scrapdoodles as stop while you are in the DC area or traveling on I-95 to or from DC. You will not be disappointed! There are also lots of shops nearby to make your trip worthwhile, such as Target and Borders. A Go-Kart track is next door to keep others entertained!
Here are the remaining scrapbook layouts for the baby girl scrapbook I completed last weekend. I hope you like it! I also posted previous postings here and here. "Sweet Pea" is a die-cut from the Cricut New Arrival cartridge. It is a simple layout with a pink and green color scheme. "So Sweet" is another pink and green layout. I punched circles out and placed American Craft Thickers for the title. The circle is Accent Essentials by Cricut. "Playtime" is a fun layout. I used the New Arrival Cricut cartridge for the animals. The wavy strip is cut using a Creative Memories curvy paper trimmer. The "Fun" is done by alpha felt letters. The "time" is stamped by SU! alphabet stamps. "Our baby girl" is a simple layout with various lettering from the New Arrival Cricut and foam stickers and Making Memories letters. "Mommy & Me" title are various lettering from Alphalicious Cricut cartridge and felt letters. Star brads are used at the bottom. Journaling stamp is used on the green card stock to create a page to jot down fond memories. "Heaven Sent" is the back page to put a large 8x10 professional picture.
Today, I am going to share with you a few layouts of the baby girl scrapbook I made in about 30 hours last Saturday-Sunday! I work well under deadline and pressure! The pictures are taken in the protective sleeve to give you an idea of how they look when protected in a scrapbook, so there may be a glare...sorry! This scrapbook was given along with a card and gift bag featured in this post. More layouts are featured here. I'll start out with the cover of the scrapbook. I like to get basic solid colors for books, then decorate them. I did not want to do it too much for this book because I was unsure of colors of the baby's room. However, always think personalization. For instance, if I knew the baby's name, I would have included it on the front instead of "our baby." I added hydrangea petals by Prima from The Stamping and Scrapbooking Room in Greensboro. The letters are American Craft Thickers - my new FAVORITE! This picture is the first page of the book. It is intended to be the baby's birth announcement. I also stamped a birth announcement on the mat for mom or dad to jot in for personalization. I also stamped a onesie and booties and added pink rhinestones. The stamp is from AC Moore by Clearly Wordsworth called "Baby." The background pattern paper is by DCWV Nursery mat stack and are 'chicks.' I added a 2" pink ribbon with a green ribbon tied around it. The title of the scrap-page is "miracle baby" and is created by American Craft Thickers and Cricut cartridge New Arrival. The "All Dressed Up" layout is one of my favorite designs! I used a onesie pattern paper background for the left side from DCWV Nursery stack and carried it over as mats for pictures on the right side. New Arrival Cricut cartridge used to create onesies on the left page. Accent Essentials Cricut cartridge used to create flowers on both pages. Alphalicious Critcut cartridge used to generate the lettering on both pages. "Bath Time" is a close second as my favorite design. New Arrival Cricut cartridge is amazing and created the title, bath tub, and ducks! I added "bubbles" on the bath with Alphalicious cartridge. On the left page, the centered white mat is stamped with a journaling stamp for mom or dad to jot down some funny stuff about baby's bath time! I also added a small journaling second on page two with some black corner edges. "Cute as a Button" is a fun layout. I used pattern paper from DCWV Nursery stack on the left side and plain white card stock on the right. I added strips of the white card stock with buttons on top on the left page. Coordinating pattern paper is added to the right page as the picture mat. The circles were created using the Accent Essentials Cricut. All lettering was by KI Memories; Celebration Collection called "It' a Girl Felt Alpha" and "It's a Boy Felt Alpha" purchased at Archiver's. "Daddy's Little Girl" was created using Alphalicious and New Arrival Cartridges. I punched cirlces and stamped them with daddy's little girl. I also inserted eyelets on the side and tied hemp around it. Journaling stamp was used on the right page to add a little blurb about the picture. I also stitched around the wave and title at the bottom. The wave was created using Creative Memories curvy paper trimmer. I will share the remaining layouts with you in tomorrow's post, so this one will not be overloaded!
I know you want to sing it! Ceeeeeeeleeebrate Gooood Tiiiiiimes Come On....... Okay, well it was something to get you going! I cased my own card! I liked how the flowers popped of the page. This was for a co-worker's birthday who loves pink and green! I even stamped the envelope (see background). My GoodiesStamp: Curvy Verses (sentiment); Friendship Blooms (everything else) Ink: CTMH Topiary Paper: PTI-pink, yellow, white, berry Accessories: buttons; brads Technique: Stamped
In regards to my previous review of the ATG 714 adhesive applicator review, I have an update! If you are having any problems with tension in your applicator (as I was), it is okay! You may have experienced tight tension preventing you from continuing rolling the adhesive, then a sudden POP of the tape. Well, I have the solution! (EDITED on 02.23.2009)Please contact 3M by calling 888.936.3636 Monday through Friday 8am-5pm Central Time. Please feel free to leave a voicemail during evenings and weekends. I spoke with Sean and he helped me discover that my applicator was one of the defective applicators manufactured due to a specification that was off on the rear 'wheel' component. If you give 3M a call, they will determine if your applicator is defective by asking you to open your applicator, removing the locking mechanism on the part where the excess tape goes, then removing a component to see if it rolls freely. If it does not, then it is a defective applicator. To fix this problem, they are sending me a replacement part with directions and also some adhesive for losing any! It helps that 3M has great customer service in regards to defective products! I will post another updated review after I receive my replacement part and discover my applicator's intended easy use! For other related reviews, click here. I hope you found this information helpful!
Most of my paper art creations are one-of-a-kind. I can never get them to quite look alike because I find something I want to do different. Here is a 'series', so-to-speak, of cards with the same color inspiration! These colors remind me of the southwest. Ever been to New Mexico? Well this screams Albuquerque! They have different messages, but some elements are the same, such as the flower, button, and layout. My GoodiesStamp: PTI Women of Life (sentiment); Art Warehouse Limited Edition Journaling Stamp set Ink: Chocolate Chip; VersaMark Paper: Chocolate Chip; Kraft-PTI; blue-DCWV; apricot-Bazzil Basics coolcanteloupe Accessories: Cricut Accent Essentials; button; hemp Technique: Stamped

I got my only request to do a Father's Day card. I guess men do not care for cards like women! I have plenty of stamp sets for countless ideas, but this is what I came up with. This card is cased from Carolyn's card. I had to have the sanded stamp because of her card! I changed the four square stamps and added brown waxy flaxy. The brown cardstock is stamped with a "sanded" stamp in white ink. The cream cardstock is stamped with the same sanded stamp in brown ink. Then, I die-cut four squares using my Square Nestabilities and matted on green cardstock.
Here is the inside of the card! My GoodiesStamp: CTMH Just Like You (father's day sentiments); PTI Father Knows Best (tree & compass; inside sentiment) Ink: Chocolate Chip; CTMH Topiary Paper: Chocolate Chip; Very Vanilla; CTMH Green cardstock Accessories: Brown Waxy Flaxy Technique: Stamped
This post looks like "Back to School," but actually it marks the end of school! The card pictured right is a thank you card for a school (personalized in bottom right portion of the card) given by a parent. I made a set of 10 boxed thank you cards for the occasion. The tab at the top is for personalization with a name or date. My GoodiesStamp: Fiskars Baby Stamp (thank you); Art Warehouse Limited Edition journaling backgrounds (three hole punches) Ink: CTMH Cranberry; Black; Chestnut Roan ColorBox Chalk Paper: SU! Very Vanilla; Red; Green, Taupe; K&Co Wild Saffron (pattern paper); Very Vanilla; PTI Kraft card stock (AMAZING!) Accessories: Cricut; Plaintin Schoolbook cartridge; Tab punch Technique: Stamped; Paper Pierced The card pictured left is for a kindergarten graduate! She is a superstar, so I stamped the background of stars on the K&Co pattern "notebook" paper. I matted it on blue cardstock and a red card base. For the sentiment, I stamped it on the "notebook" pattern paper, then matted it on red cardstock. Since I do not have a window punch, I cut a curve! My GoodiesStamp: Verve Visual Great Expectations (superstar); Seeing Stars (stars) Ink: CTMH Cranberry; Twilight; Bubblegum; Topiary; Cranberry ColorBox Chalk Paper: K&Co Wild Saffron; Blue; Red Accessories: Brads Technique: Stamped
I hope everyone had a great weekend! I had a very BUSY weekend. I had to finish a baby scrapbook, gift bag and card by Sunday afternoon. Well...I met my deadline! I think I work better under pressure; not having time to think whether this or that will look better! Pictured right is a close-up of a gift bag for expecting mother, Emerald! I customized the bag, card, and baby scrapbook for her. This project was for my mother to give as a gift at the shower. Here is the card I created. I used the New Arrival Cricut cartridge to make the pregnant die-cut mommy. It is difficult to find some ethnic cards, so the Cricut and various shades of paper make that possible! I made the mommy have a pink dress with black pants, pumps and purse! I embellished with black stickles around the empire waistline, created an eye for her face, and also placed a K&Co adhesive pearl to accent the purse! I placed the entire die-cut on white card stock that is matted on black card stock and pink polka dot paper (K&Co 12x12 stack). The base of the card is solid black card stock. The sentiment "you're expecting" is a clear stamp set from AC Moore (can't recall now - will post later)! This picture shows the bag and the card together. I recycled an older bag (that was never used by the way from my previous business). I covered the old logo with solid black card stock and placed a large pink ribbon around it and tied it in a knot. I added a larger die-cut, matted with same matching papers to the black card stock. Lastly, I added her name, Emerald, for personalization. All things paper is my specialty, so that includes gift bags too! Scrapbook layouts for the baby girl book I created are posted here and here.
