I really wanted to create something tonight, but couldn't. I think I was just tired. Have you ever gone to create, then just sat there and stared?! Stared at what? All of this STUFF and nothing to create. How on EARTH does that happen? Who knows, but it does! I try not to get frustrated and move on. I still have plenty to share with you because of an influx of creativity I had over the past few days, which is probably why I ran out of juice! Yesterday, this new Hero Arts apples set was delivered and I opened it immediately to create this simple thank you card. I like to purchase my Hero Arts goodies from Stamping Cafe. Kiara is great! I stocked up on some bling too! I'm going to disclose a little secret with you all. I messed up...on this card! Can you find it? Well, hopefully you can't see it because I hid it! I tried to hand write "so much" under "Thanks" but it was really crooked and not pretty. So, what do you do? Don't trash it! Cover it up! I quickly opened up my word processing program, typed my sentiment, and selected the font...PRINT! Voila! The card is saved! I still was able to use a handwriting font! Hope you all like it! TGIF! Have any weekend plans? Please share! My mom's birthday is Monday and I hope to spend some time with her. HI MOMMY! Have a good weekend and I'll be back later to share more...CARDS! Here is how you can make this card (without the OMG what did I do reaction): - Grab a PTI A2 pre-scored card base.
- Stamp apples on white cardstock, then square punch.
- Punch larger squares on green cardstock.
- Adhere apples to green cardstock using dimensionals.
- Adhere squares to card base.
- Stamp "Thanks" sentiment.
- Print sentiment on cardstock (using Word + Susie's Hand font).
- Trim sentiment and adhere to card base using dimensionals.

Today is my brother-in-law's birthday. I tried to make a masculine card again, but this time without using the nautical theme because that just gets old! I tell you, guy cards are SO hard! I chose to do a mini pocket card and distress everything. I added faux stitching (mainly because my sewing machine is broken - I think I break every one!). I like the front pocket because you can sneak an extra note or gift in there! Here is how I made this one: - Made card base by trimming kraft cardstock to 4.25" x 11" then scored at 5.5"
- Trim black cardstock to about 4" x 5.25"
- Trim pattern paper to about 3.75"x 5" then mat on black cardstock
- Distress the edges of everything
- With a scrap piece of kraft cardstock create a pocket. Tear the top part. Paper pierce the edges, then draw a line across holes to create faux stitching.
- Adhere to pattern paper using dimensionals.
- Die cut tag and distress. Stamp sentiment on it.
- On pocket, add twine, letter thicker, felt star (a die cut already on hand) and button.
- Punch and set eyelets, then adhere card front to card base.

We're having our first bit of inclement weather in the DC area. We're now expecting some ice/freezing rain, so I'm sure the morning rush hour will be slow or non-existent due to closings. So, I predict more crafting tomorrow! Well, at least I hope so! It's a bit late and I'm acting like a kid who doesn't want to go to school! Since I just received my PTI Sympathy set, I played with it some more. The floral spray is so beautiful and can be used for any occasion card. I wanted to emboss with black and try that out with flowers. I added butterflies and rhinestones to make it not so dark. It still needs to be adhered to a card base. Does anyone else do that? Make a card front, then put it on a card base later? Instructions- Make card base by trimming cardstock to 4.25" x 11" then score at 5.5"
- Trim berry sorbet cardstock to about 4" x 5.25"
- Stamp floral spray image with watermark ink, then heat emboss with black embossing powder.
- Stamp sentiment.
- Adhere rhinestones.
- Tie ribbon around berry sorbet cardstock into a bow.
- Adhere berry sorbet cardstock to card base.
- Punch butterflies and add rhinestones, then adhere to card front.

I was tagged by Dee one of the Loonie Stamper Challenge ladies where I get much needed inspiration. Go by her blog and check her out! This is a fun challenge, well if you're not shy about sharing pictures. 1. navigate to where you keep your pictures, select the 6th folder, and the 6th picture in that folder.
2. Then post it on your blog with an explanation of the story behind the picture
3. tag 6 other people to do the same, and make sure you let them know about it. TAG...You're It! I hope each of my blog readers can play along! I know that's more than 6, but probably only 6 will actually do this! I can't wait to see your pictures! Now, I somewhat cheated because my 6th folder only had 3 pictures, so I had to go to the next folder! This picture was taken two years ago. It was a photo for our holiday photo card! Earlier that month, we just moved into our first home and were very excited! Since then, we've decorated more (added window treatments) and I have gone through many hairstyles! This is one of my longer hair looks!
I'll be back a little later with a card to share!
The loss of a furry friend can be very difficult and I could only imagine. My sister-in-law + family lost their dog (labradoodle) a couple of weeks ago. It's been pretty tough for them all. He was only about 3-4 years old and was poisoned by something, they assume he ate. So, his passing was very sudden. Kirby was the sweetest dog. He was very big, but very affectionate and fluffy! He will be missed. So, I decided to make this card using Papertrey Ink's new sympathy set that features at addition loss of pet set. I would have never thought I needed this set, but wouldn't you know. The card didn't turn out how I envisioned, but I made the best of it! Instructions - Make card base by trimming brown cardstock to 4.25" x 11", then score at 5.5"
- Trim berry sorbet cardstock to 4" x 5.25"
- Stamp sanded background image on berry sorbet cardstock.
- Tie ribbon around berry sorbet cardstock into knots.
- Stamp sentiment on brown cardstock, then adhere to berry sorbet cardstock.
- Punch 1/4" circles, then stamp paw prints and adhere to cardstock using dimensionals.
- Adhere berry cardstock to card base using dimensionals.

The start of another week is good because that means another weekend is on the way...right?! Today, I'm sharing a simple baby card to go with my book posted here. I'm so slow with sending stuff and it's a shame because the book was completed last week! So, I remembered tonight and decided to make a quick card. Need a fast baby card? Use these easy steps: - Make card base by trimming aqua mist cardstock to 4.25" x 11", then score at 5.5".
- Trim brown cardstock to a square.
- Punch circles.
- Stamp baby images on circles.
- Adhere circles to brown cardstock using dimensionals.
- Corner round the edges of brown cardstock and card base.
- Adhere brown cardstock to card base center.
- Stamp sentiment.
TIP For a baby girl, use pink instead of blue for the card base. Know the colors of the baby room? Select those for a new baby card too! Hope you have a great Monday and thanks so much for stopping by! EDITED TO ADD: Have you all heard? Paris Hilton has a new scrapbooking line debuting at CHA this week. Here is a link to some video footage. Here's another link with more detailed information of what her line will carry. The official website is called Paris Creativity, but there's not much there yet. Will paper crafting ever be the same?! I know there should be an influx of pink and bling! :: My Goodies {happy new baby}:: Stamps: Papertrey Ink-Bitty Baby Blessings Ink: Stampin' Up!-chocolate chip Cardstock: Papertrey Ink-aqua mist + dark chocolate+ vanilla Accessories: dimensionals; 1/4" circle punch; corner rounder Card Size: 4.25 x 5.5
I almost forgot today was the 25th and I've been saving this birthday card to share with everyone for Papertrey's Blog Hop. This is my very first blog hop, so I am bit excited to see how it all works. This month's blog hop challenge was to share a birthday card. The purpose of a blog hop is to discover other paper craft bloggers and get inspiration of ideas using the same challenge. I hope you all enjoy this card for that special nautical person! Create this simple masculine card by following these steps: - Make card base by trimming aqua mist cardstock to 4.25" x 5.5" (a pre-scored white A2 card will serve as the card).
- Stamp boat on vanilla cardstock and cut out.
- Trim square from kraft cardstock.
- Stamp sentiment on vanilla cardstock.
- Adhere boat to kraft cardstock using dimensionals.
- Trim pure poppy cardstock and cut at an angle on one end.
- Using the remaining scraps from pure poppy cardstock, trim a flag to adhere to top of sail.
- Add hardware to top of kraft square + twine.
- Adhere everything to card base.

TGIF!! This card uses some bling for this week's Loonie Stamper's Challenge. I also combine it with K. Werner's Color Challenge (again). I do not know why I selected these colors again, but it started out with me thinking that the bling will show up best on dark cardstock, so I went for black and the rest is history! Once I found out the Loonie Challenge, I sketched out an idea on paper. I normally do not do this, but for the past few weeks, I have been sketching card designs. This card transformed many times. I had to remove the scalloped square focal point a few times because the first time, I stamped the sentiment REALLY crooked (RE-DO), then the second time, I thought that the swiss dots embossing was needed...bad! So, I took my time, trying not to get frustrated and finally finished! Does anyone have these Heide Swap bling frames? Well, to me they are very hard to center on your cardstock, especially if you are trying to fit in a scalloped square! I worked with that about 4 times, finally to get it on and centered enough! Is there some other technique I should know about? If so, please share!! Well, I hope you all have a good weekend and take a look at the Loonie Stamper's Challenge and K. Werner submissions!! How did I make that? - Trim yellow cardstock to 4.25" x 11", then score at 5.5".
- Dry emboss top portion of the card base.
- Stamp sentiment on the bottom of card base.
- Tie ribbon around card base in a bow, then set aside.
- Die cut scalloped square.
- Adhere bling square to scalloped square.
- Stamp hearts on cardstock (the red heart is clear heat embossed) and cut out.
- Adhere hearts to scalloped square.
- Stitch button to flower and adhere to heart.
- Adhere scalloped square to card base.

I would never put these colors together, except for a K. Werner Color Challenge! This card design is even outside of my element, but I thought it was necessary given the colors. I wanted to do something different, keeping it bold and new! How do you like it? Is it weird? Sometimes I think it is, sometimes I don't! I'll just call it whimsical; does that fit? Instructions - Pull out a Papertrey Ink white pre-scored A2 card and set aside.
- Trim black cardstock to 4" x 5.25".
- Die cut circles (pattern paper + red cardstock) and adhere to black cardstock.
- Ink chipboard (bird + limb) using craft ink.
- Cover bird's wing with cardstock, then stamp design (the design on the heart stamp fit perfectly).
- Adhere all to black cardstock together.
- Add green pearls.
- Rub-on sentiment.

Anyone watch American Idol last night? I think they're showing too many bad acts. I'd like to enjoy some serious auditions. After a while, the bad acts just frustrate me because people aren't taking it seriously. I think it's because they're not finding as much talent as they usually do. Anyway, I made a few cards while tuning in. Here is a card that could be a get well card or an encouragement card. I read the sentiment either way. I used ColorBox chestnut ink and LOVE it! The coverage is amazing! I usually use the chalks to distress the edges, but recently purchased a mini ink to try it out. It has such a rich color. You have to let it dry because it can smudge easily. It's very similar to Stampin' Up's Craft inks. Stay warm (if you live in a cold area)! Instructions - Trim ocean tide cardstock to 4.25" x 11" then score at 5.5" and set aside.
- Trim cream cardstock to about 4" x 5.25"
- Stamp grass background.
- Stamp bird and cut out and add greenish pearls.
- Die cut and emboss scalloped oval and regular oval.
- Stamp sentiment on cream oval and add greenish pearls.
- Adhere the oval to the scalloped oval using dimensionals.
- Tie ribbon around cream cardstock.
- Adhere oval to cream cardstock.
- Adhere bird to cream cardstock.
- Adhere cream cardstock to card base.

Yaaay! It's Wednesday, HUMP DAY and only two more work days until the weekend! This was such a long weekend for me, I hardly want to return to work, but the inspiration makes me feel glad that I have a great job to return to in the end. This card is a very, very simple card I decided to design because I had to make multiples. I am sending out a few thank you notes and I wanted them to be elegant, yet fun. So, the labels die and the elegant thank you sentiment coupled with the polka dotted ribbon give me what I wanted. The new Stampin' Up! catalog just debuted this week and I'm looking forward to placing my first order before the month ends. I've tried to get into the habit of waiting a week or so just to make sure my choices are definite, in that I will use everything I order! So, I probably will be having a stamp sale coming up soon!! For those of you looking to find some retired sets, I just may have what you're looking for! I'm also looking to sell my HP A636 Photo Printer, plus supplies, such as carrying case, ink, and photo paper. If you are interested let me know as soon as possible and I will hold it for you. The reason being is that I got another photo printer and am really trying to conserve on my space so I decided to give this one up. It's a great photo printer you can easily carry along to crops or other places in the carrying case. It is very lightweight and prints photos fast. Instructions for the simple card (as if you really needed them!) - For this card, I took a pre-scored A7 card, then trimmed it down to 4.25" x 5.5" to make it an A2 card. It was just a bit too large for the simple design I had in mind. So that may be a little trick when you want to use pre-scored cards in a certain color!
- Die cut labels.
- Stamp sentiment.
- Add pearls.
- Adhere ribbon around card base.
- Adhere label to card base center front.

Being a native of the Washington DC area, inaugurations are a part of living here; however, this inauguration is definitely different. This is the first time I have ever seen the entire area 'lock down' for safety reasons, closing streets and bridges entering into the city. We went out last night, after the crowds to grab a few shots. Now, I'm no photographer, but these two pictures were my favorite. Check out the Washington Monument (known to me as 'the pencil' as a child growing up here). I love the light that was captured. In real life, it was cloudy and COOOOOOOLD, but I guess somehow lights were bouncing off of something else to capture this unique lighting effect. Will future inaugurations be the same? What's to come? There are so many questions to be answered and wonders of what the future will hold for this nation. I can only hope for the best. This is such a great time in life to experience America and I am glad to have lived to see history be made today! I'll be sharing a special photo card for Presidents Day next month using a picture my husband took of Barack Obama (looking at him - wink wink)!! Stay tuned!
Today, I am celebrating the birth of a new baby and the birth of a new President! My childhood best friend's sister (also my friend) had a baby boy last month. I'm just now finishing up the final touches of the baby book. Instead of the constricting scrapbook layouts, I designed a smaller book that can easily be toted around with open space for the mom to place whatever on the pages. I waited for Jaison to be born so I could customize it with his name for a special, personal touch. I'm not going to post instructions because it would take forever, so I'll just describe what I did. The album is a Bo Bunny 6x6 bare naked binder with half canvas fabric and half chipboard. On the chipboard side, I covered it with a soft, striped, cotton fabric. I divided the two fabrics with brown grosgrain ribbon. On the inside of the covers, I painted the chipboard section with blue acrylic paint. The are nine chipboard pages on the inside (times two for front and back, making a total of 18 pages) that are covered with Basic Grey paper and canvas. Some pages are lightly embellished with stamped dimensionals, buttons, tags, and ribbon. I distressed the pages and added loop trim on some of the edges. So, how do you like it? It is different from a traditional scrapbook that I normally give new mothers, but I like it much better because it isn't as restrictive with what pictures match each page, such as 'baby's first bath'. :: My Goodies {Jaison David baby book}:: Stamps: Papertrey Ink-bitty baby blessings; mixed messages; borders and corners-rectangles; Clearly Wordsworth-baby Ink: Stampin' Up!-chocolate chip; ColorBox-chestnut roan Cardstocks: Papertrey Ink-dark chocolate, vintage cream Pattern Paper: Basic Grey-two scoops/non-fat yogurt, figgy pudding-glacier Fabric: Ava Rose by Tanya Whelan Aqua Ticking Stripe; Canvas Accessories: Bo Bunny-6x6 bare naked binder + refills; dimensionals; Stampin' Up!-chocolate chip grosgrain ribbon; American Crafts-brown foam thickers; twine; tags; Making Memories-alphabet square charms 'antique copper', charmed 'baby', sea foam acrylic paint, sea foam loop trim, binder clip; Chatterbox-brads; Papertrey Ink-Aqua mist ribbon; corner rounder; We R Memory Keepers-family eyelet; Fancy Pants Designs-heart pin Card Size: 4.25 x 5.5
{Front} {Inside} It's MLK Day, so I thought I'd create a unique card for the occasion. I know it's rare to send a card for this holiday, which is why I made one! I centered the purpose of it around encouragement using the highly recognized word of Dr. King's speech "dream." I finished the inside of this card with the greeting to emphasize the purpose of this encouraging card. It doesn't have to be given to someone on MLK Day, but at any time to someone who may have given up on a dream. Instructions: - Trim green cardstock to 4.25" x 5.5".
- Trim brown cardstock to about 5" x 4".
- Trim white cardstock to about 4.625" x 3.5".
- Trim pattern paper to about 4.375" x 3.25".
- Adhere thickers to pattern paper.
- Tie ribbon around pattern paper into a knot.
- On word processor, type "have a" and "Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. did" and print.
- Cut out words.
- Place "Have a" behind ribbon.
- Mat pattern paper and cardstocks on one another.
- Mat cardstocks and place greeting on inside of card.
- Stamp design on inside of card.

Hi...how was your weekend? Mine was very relaxed. I hope today I'm able to do a little more crafting than I did this weekend. Last night, I did clean up my craft room significantly and organized my file cabinet to store my scraps. I'm finding that it's working really well for me and I'm actually placing the scraps in their proper location after each project! I'm using all of my scraps when I need a piece of this or that color. I highly recommend this organization idea to use all of your cardstock. For my pattern paper, I still dump that in a large photo box. For some of my pattern paper, I return to a Creative Memories paper organizer (I can't link it because I don't think it's available anymore. I can't find it). This card's colors are based off of Loonie's Stamper's Challenge. They're very fun and easy to work with! I really like it for a Valentine's card. I wanted to work with Papertrey Ink's new Heart Prints, which I won! Now, I need a couple of heart punches because I'm not too good at cutting these hearts out like I thought I would be! Anyway, this card is fairly simple (minus the heart cutting), but would be really simple if you have the punch. I added the double-ribbon, which I really like to incorporate into my cards. I just hate that I use so much ribbon! I've had the linen vellum for a while but forgot to use it. I really like it because it's heavy-weight and you can stamp on it and it adds texture. Is that enough reasons?! Happy MLK Day! Here is how you can make this exact card in less than 10 steps: - Make card base by trimming green cardstock to 4.25" x 11", then score at 5.5".
- Trim vellum to 3.5" x 3.25".
- Trim brown cardstock to about 3.75" x 4", then scallop edge punch the bottom.
- Stamp hearts using watermark ink and emboss with clear embossing powder.
- Cut or punch hearts, then adhere to vellum using dimensionals.
- Adhere vellum to brown cardstock.
- Tie pink ribbon around brown cardstock.
- Adhere brown cardstock to green card base using dimensionals.
- Stamp sentiment and hearts on bottom center of card base.

Happy Sunday! I'm still relaxing. I didn't get to watch my movies yesterday, but hopefully today I definitely will. I'm not feeling too creative, which I hate when I have all the time in the world to devote to it. Does that ever happen to anyone else. This card took me HOURS to make. It was the color combination that I just could never decide on. Anyway... Ever been to the hospital? Well, if so you may want to thank your medical staff for their assistance and support. That is why I created this card as a medical themed-thank you! It could be that your doctor helped you resolve an issue or you had a baby could be a couple of reasons to send the staff a note of thanks. My cousin, Brigitte, is a labor and delivery nurse/supervisor at Wishard in Indianapolis. Many nurses there read my blog, so this card is for you and the hard work you put in to make the lives of many so much better! This post is a shout out to Wishard! So, all the nurses at Wishard, please leave a comment...I know you're out there! Hurry up because someone probably needs an epidural soon! Want to learn how to make this card? It's an easy 10-step process to follow. Here's how: - Make card base by trimming olive cardstock to 4.25" x 11", then score at 5.5".
- Trim linen vellum to about 3.25" x 4.125".
- Cut square from kraft cardstock 2.5" x 2.25" then stamp stethoscope in brown ink.
- Stamp hearts (one is heat embossed using clear embossing powder on brown cardstock, the other is simply stamped with brown ink on kraft cardstock).
- Adhere kraft square to vellum using dimensionals.
- Tie ribbon around vellum and kraft square and tie into a knot.
- Adhere vellum to card base.
- Adhere hearts (after cutting them out) to the side using dimensionls.
- Stamp sentiment in brown ink.
- Add pearl.

Hi everyone! I'm having a great lazy Saturday! I did get a chance to make this card for K. Werner's Color Challenge before the deadline this evening. It is a VERY simple card because these colors are difficult to work with for me because I have limited supplies. I do not have any ink colors except white. They're very pretty, but a challenge to work with. I needed to use more black with it, but I refrained from using it to stay within the challenge requirements. Today, I'm watching CNN as President-Elect Obama is making his way to DC. It is great to see City Hall in Baltimore full of people knowing I used to live only a few blocks from there while in graduate school. Later, I am going to probably nap, eat, and watch a few movies before finishing up some projects I'm working on. I hope you all enjoy your Saturday and hopefully, I'll be back with a post tomorrow! So, if you're cold like me, stop by Kristina's site to see all of the challenge posts. There are over 200 entries...WHOA! I'm going to start clicking! Instructions: - Make card base by trimming ruby red cardstock to 4.25" x 11", then score at 5.5".
- Stamp scallop square on ruby red cardstock using watermark ink, then heat emboss with white embossing powder.
- Cut stamp into a square and mat on a pink cardstock square.
- Add rhinestones to the scallop square flowers.
- Trim orange polka dot and white ribbons, then adhere to card base.
- Adhere square to card base.

TGIF!! It's an extra long weekend for me, here in the DC area as we prepare for a major weekend event for the Presidential Inauguration. It is a big deal, let me tell you. Many streets are closing, the mass transit system is going to be FULL and there will be people EVERYWHERE! It is a historical event, BUT it will also be freezing, PLUS I have no tickets to events, so I am not going downtown to be cold and stand outside with everyone to see...nothing when I can STAMP, CREATE, and INSPIRE right here and watch it all on the good old TV with a clear view! I'm really looking forward to my 4-day weekend! So, with that said, today's card focuses on the sentiment. It is extremely simple and easy to make. I hope you like it! If so, the instructions are below. If you case this card (or any of my projects) please just give me a little tiny bit of credit for my originality and effort into providing instructions for you! :) THANKS and have a wonderful holiday weekend! I should be back tomorrow with a color challenge card. Instructions - Make card base.
- Dry emboss card base front.
- Die cut rectangle.
- Dry emboss rectangle frame.
- Stamp sentiment.
- Adhere felt shapes.
- Adhere hardware and twine.

Yaaay...it's Thursday! I'm excited because I have a four-day weekend coming up and get to create to my heart's desire! This card I'm sharing with you today is very easy to create. It probably took about 10-minutes to do. This card can be for an anniversary, just because, or valentine's. Anyone watch American Idol? I don't know how I get lured into watching it every season! The auditions are just too exciting to turn away. Well, I hope you enjoy the remainder of your day. I have to finish making a masculine birthday card, which are so challenging, but fun! Instructions - Make your card base by trimming baja breeze cardstock to 4.25 " x 11", then score at 5.5".
- Stamp swirls on left side of card base.
- Stamp sentiment on right side of card base.
- Attach brads to flowers.
- Adhere flowers to card base around stamped swirls using tacky glue.
- Score lines at the bottom of card base.

Only one month until Valentine's Day, so I thought I'd share this altered heart tin with you! Originally looks like this (available for purchase at Papertrey Ink). I covered it paper, ribbon, flowers, and rhinestones. Somehow, during my alteration, I came up with the idea to make it a jewerly heart tin. I thought this is the perfect Valentine's treat for anyone! Not only can you alter it to hold a ring, but also any other jewelry, such as earrings, necklace, or bracelet! This tin can also be altered to fit anyone's taste and can be given any time of the year. I think this is the perfect way to present an engagement ring because it is not in the typical jeweler's box. This can be a way to 'hide' it in an inconspicuous way. My sister had a good idea to create a few of them, one with candy, another with a note, but the last with the engagement ring. Isn't that a cute idea? Sorry for a lot of photos, I really liked the project and how it turned out and my DH had a good time photographing it (thanks, Mac)! Everything to complete this project is from Papertrey Ink, except the rhinestones and flowers (Mac gave those to me for Christmas!). The ring is only placed in the tin as an example! Want to create your own heart tin? It's easy using these quick steps: - Clean tin by wiping off any 'dirt' - it is probably clean!
- Measure paper to wrap around tin. (TIP: Papertrey Ink's 6x6 pattern paper fits perfectly around the tin. You only have to measure the width, which will be the height of the tin of about 2" or so).
- Adhere pattern paper to tin using tacky glue (my personal preference at the time).
- Measure pattern paper for the tin lid by tracing the heart and cutting it out. (TIP: Before adhering, match paper to the lid making sure it fits. Trim any excess with scissors.)
- Adhere pattern paper to lid.
- Measure ribbon for the lid and base of the tin and adhere to tin. (TIP: To keep everything uniform, select a side you will make your 'seam' side and start and finish at the same point for your pattern paper and ribbon. I used the top part of the heart because people tend to hold the heart face up/down with that part not exposed).
- Adhere ribbon to tin (I used tacky glue, which can be a little messy, but tacky tape may work well too).
- Adhere rhinestones to ribbon on tin base. (TIP: For self-adhesive rhinestones, I still use tacky glue to adhere them to prevent them from falling off easily.)
- Add flowers w/ rhinestones to the lid.
- Stamp "XOXO" on white cardstock. Trim cardstock to a strip and using scissors create a flag point on the end.
- Using tacky glue (obviously my favorite now) adhere the sentiment strip to tin lid in a wave design. (TIP: When using tacky glue, hold whatever you are adhering into place for a couple of minutes. You have time to adjust and this will make it stay in place pretty much forever!)
- For the inside of the tin, trace the heart design on paper, then cut out. Try to place inside of the tin and make any necessary trimmings. (TIP: Make sure you do not cut too much since the tin has a 'lip' on it, the paper will fit comfortably inside of the lid by pushing it down at an angle and it will automatically pop up for a perfect fit.)
- Once your heart fits, take it back out and make any 'cuts' using a craft knife or paper piercer for the jewelry. I used a craft knife to make room for a ring. A paper piercer would work great for earrings.
- Fill tin with leftover 'stuffing' from your old jewelry boxes I'm sure you have. If you do not have stuffing, cotton balls should work perfectly. This will keep the jewelry safe from falling into the tin making a noise.
- Place heart paper into tin, add jewelry and then say OOOOOH AAAAAAAAH OOOH!
I just loved this project and it only took me about 30 minutes to make and I did not know what I was doing! It was my first altered tin project and was surprisingly easy - especially for the shape in my opinion. So, I encourage you all to try something new, you will be surprised what you can do sometimes! If you do not want to make a jewelry tin, you can always fill it with treats, such as candies or dessert! Join me tonight in the Papertrey Ink forum for the release party! Only rub-ons were used to make this card! I added rhinestones and a dimensional of one rub-on. It looks like one of those pre-printed cards you can purchase in a pack. To make this card, simply rub on flowers on your card base into a pattern. Add sentiment and rhinestones. It's a really simple card. The layout of the rub ons is the most challenging part. I like rub ons, but prefer stamps because once you use rub ons they're gone! You can use stamps over and over again, making them more cost-effective and versatile too! But, every now and then, a good 'rub-on' is always welcome! You can also make your own rub-on using your word processor and printer. The brand I have is Grafix "Rub-onz" that includes 4- 8.5 x 11" sheets. It shows three easy steps: - Print/Design (even stamp on the paper)
- Apply Adhesive
- Transfer to Surface (rub on)
If you really like them, this is a great way to create your own custom rub-ons! By the way, I've never tried this out before! Another TIP: When using rub-ons, you can cut them to apply them to an edge, then use the other portion for another edge! I'll be back tomorrow to share another {love} card! Enjoy your Tuesday! :: My Goodies {i love you}:: Cardstock: Papertrey Ink-white; pure poppy Accessories: Deja Views-rub on (sentiment); Luxe designs-rub on(flowers); Hero Arts-rhinestones; dimensionals Card Size: 4.25 x 5.5
For the new year, I decided to go for a new look. {See the new photo?} My hair is a lot darker and shorter! It's much easier to manage and is fun! I change my hairstyles often, keeping myself {like my crafts} bold and new! The hairstyle is a week old, but I just got the chance to get this photo taken by my DH, Mac. He's a great photographer! This project was inspired by Loonie Stamper's Challenge, who challenged everyone to do an altered pink project. I altered a canvas using fabric, ribbon, metal, and a picture. Using fabric instead of paper adds so much texture, especially for home decor altered items. This project does not take a long time and you can create it too: - Cut a piece of fabric to cover the front, sides, and part of the back of the canvas.
- Apply gel medium to front of canvas, then adhere fabric.
- Apply gel medium to one side of the canvas and adhere fabric.
- To close the end, fold the end (as if you were wrapping a present) and adhere.
- Continue adhering fabric to the remaining sides.
- Tie ribbon around canvas into a bow. (TIP: Only cut ribbon to wrap around the canvas, then cut another piece to tie a bow on the front to conserve ribbon)
- Adhere metal sentiment to fabric.
- Clip embellished paper clip to photograph and adhere to fabric.
- Cut prongs of brads down, then adhere to fabric.
- Adhere rhinestones to fabric.
Here are some tips when working with fabric: - Adhere using Golden Gel Medium
- When adhering anything to fabric, use Alene's Tacky Glue (which I use almost all the time to make everything stay in place)
- Any questions? Just ask because I've worked with fabric a whopping 3 times now!

How's your weekend going? Mine has been VERY restful! It's a pretty yucky, cold and wet day here. However, I was able to make a few cards earlier today. I am posting this one before Kristine's Color Challenge deadline is over. The colors reminded me of a baby card. Orange and blue are complimentary colors and work perfect together. I also tried something I rarely do and that's...PAPER PIECE! I do not paper piece because it involves extra steps that I am too impatient to take! It was not too bad and good to bring color in a mono-tone stamp when you do not have Copics or know how to use them! I'm heading out to my office holiday party. I hope I win something!! Hope you enjoy the remainder of your weekend! Here's how you can create this baby card too! - Trim brown cardstock to 4.25" x 11", then score at 5.5" for your card base and set aside.
- Trim two rectangles in the orange and blue cardstocks so they mat together.
- Dry emboss polka dots on blue cardstock.
- Tie brown ribbon around rectangle. (TIP: to save ribbon, use a small part just to cover the ends of the rectangle, then use a smaller piece of ribbon to actually tie the knot)
- Stamp sailboat on white, orange, brown, and green cardstock.
- Stamp polka dots on green cardstock.
- Paper piece the boat together by cutting the parts you want to adhere to the white sailboat.
- Cut out sailboat.
- Stamp rectangle + sentiment on white cardstock and cut out.
- Stamp "boy" and cut out.
- Mat on green cardstock.
- Adhere rectangle + sailboat to blue cardstock using dimensionals.
- Adhere "boy" to card base.
- Add heart pin to ribbon knot.

I know it's January, BUT, after making this card, I was thinking, "what sentiment should I stamp on the bottom?" For some reason, Mother's Day kept popping in my head, so I stamped just that! Since I did a Father's Day card last month, it won't hurt, right?! I wanted to use some chipboard bird and tree limbs I got by Maya Road. It was fun to use something different. I had the idea to create the oval focal point. I found the Bo Bunny polka dot pattern paper that just fit {for me, that is}. So, what do you think? Instructions - Trim pattern paper to 4.25" x 5.5" and set aside.
- Die cut oval and scallop oval from pattern paper and cardstock.
- Paint tree limb.
- Paper pierce (is this the right term for this technique?) the bird using cardstock and pattern paper for the wing.
- Adhere limb and bird to oval.
- Adhere oval to card base.
- Adhere flowers to tree limb.
- Add stickles.
- Stamp sentiment.
- Add brads.
- Adhere pattern paper card base to A2 pre-scored card.

OMG - it's Thursday already! YAAAAY! I really do not have anything special to share today. Oh yeah, I purchased a Making Memories embellishment organizer from Michaels and love it! It has a top that opens and two drawers with lots of storage space. I have seen it many times and thought that's just a bunch of 'cubbies' not knowing that I would eventually buy one. It holds so much little stuff. It was on sale, so I decided to try it as organization is high on my priority list. It has organized many of my small embellishments, such as brads, letters, clips, chipboard, metal effects, tags and even scraps that did not make a project. I have put a lot of stuff in it, but still have a lot of space left. I have not been using some supplies because I forget about them tucked away in a storage box...INEFFECTIVE STORAGE METHOD! Now, I have a specific place to go for those tiny items where I can easily find them. I also jotted down the maker/name of the supply and dropped it in the bottom of each cubby so I would know how to get it again if I ever were to run out! That's a way to overcome "what is this" when you take items out of the original packaging. Well, I hope you all enjoy your day and thanks so much for dropping by to 'see' me! Instructions: - Trim brown cardstock to 4.25" x 5.5" and set aside.
- Die cut squares and scallop square out of cardstocks.
- Stamp sentiment on green cardstock.
- Using dimensionals, adhere the squares to the scallop square.
- Trim 1/2" patter paper and adhere to card base.
- Trim 3.5" ribbon and adhere on top of pattern paper.
- Add decorative brad to ribbon.
- Adhere scallop square over ribbon and pattern paper.
- Adhere card base to pre-scored A2 card.

Happy Hump Day! This week seems to be moving along at a good pace! I can't wait for the weekend! We have a couple of parties to go to, including my office holiday party! The last time I went, I won a Best Buy gift card and my brother-in-law won an ipod, so I'm hoping to be a lucky winner again this year! I have a few projects that I have to complete and I'm on a time schedule, which is always a bit stressful for me because I am a procrastinator. Well, at least I admit my flaws! But, before I worked on the projects, I prioritized my list and made a couple of "must-do tonight" cards. This card is one of them. It is for our niece who is turning 13 (I think)! I hope she likes all of the purple bling! Minimal stamping is done, which is beginning to be a trend of mine lately, but embellishments are higher on my list for some reason. Well, I hope you all have a great day! Instructions: - Trim cardstock to 11" x 4.25", then score at 5.5"
- Trim black cardstock to 4.25" and about 2", then punch the scallop edge on both sides.
- Adhere black cardstock to card base.
- Tie ribbon around black cardstock in a knot.
- Add purple rhinestones to the ribbon and the scallop edges.
- Stamp sentiment on white cardstock, then pop off of black cardstock.
- Adhere "HaPpY" stickers above black cardstock. (I don't think I did this in this order, but it works)!
- Corner round the bottom left edge of the card

Late last year, I downloaded these calendar templates to fit my cd case for my desktop calendar. I still plan to do a handstamped calendar that I will keep for my studio. I'll do that later this week. This calendar will go on my desk in my office at work. I plan to keep them very simple with a little bit of bold (that's the PINK you see)! You can visit Jennifer Ward's blog and also download the 2009 calendar templates. They're $6 and you can print as many as you like with Adobe Acrobat Reader. My only word of caution is when cutting, double-check the guidelines because mine were not aligned perfectly. Also, my printer prints out the chocolate font more like black. I guess it's just really really dark. I still like the quirky design. One more thing, how do you like the photos? Do you think the plain white backgrounds are better or do you like the 'wannabe' professional shots? :: My Goodies {January calendar}::Paper: Papertrey Ink-Kraft; Ripe Avocado Accessories: American Crafts-flowers; MM-jeweled brads; Papertrey Ink-raspberry fizz topnotch twill ribbon; Jennifer Ward-calendar template Calendar Size: 5.5 x 4.75
It's sad to see the holiday season come to an end, but it's also good to get back to the usual schedule and move forward. I didn't complete my organization plan, so that will be postponed until later this week when I can pick up the supplies. I started with Loonie's Stamper Challenge. This week's challenge were to use PTI-Spring Rain, Pure Poppy, Spring Moss, and Sweet Blush. Instead of pulling cardstocks in all of the colors, I thought about some felt flowers and buttons. For this year, I thought I would kick up my photography game and try to be a little more creative with my card photos. This time, I used a project that I am working on and almost finished. I hope to share it with you later this week. I'm really excited about it for some reason! It will be a gift for someone (or two)! To make this card: - Trim cardstock to 11" x 4.25", then score at 5.5"
- Stamp polka dot background on bottom portion of cardstock.
- Tie ribbon around card base.
- Sew buttons on flowers, adhering them together, then adhere them to the card base.
- Ink {white} tag blue (TIP: you can always alter something white).
- Stamp sentiment on tag and tie around ribbon.
- Adhere tag to the card to stay in place, then add pink rhinestone to the 'hole'.

I wanted to wish everyone a Happy New Year today! I had a great evening with MANY friends and am greatly appreciative of them and all of you who read my blog everyday. I wish you all a "Devine 2009" in whatever you would like to fulfill this year. I had to try out my new raspberry fizz collection by Papertrey Ink. I think this is my favoriate color. So, I didn't use the specific colors for the K. Werner Color Challenge, but I think they're close enough. Go take a look at all those entries! Have a great holiday! To make this card: - Trim cardstock to 11" x 4.25", then score at 5.5"
- Tie ribbon in a bow around card base.
- Punch scallop circles out of pattern paper.
- Punch small circles out of olive cardstock.
- Paper pierce the circles and scallop circles and add brads.
