This card was inspired by K. Werner's color challenge for the week. I designed this card for my husband's childhood (now adult) friend. Masculine cards are very challenging, but interesting in the end. I repeated the colors a lot and even added some scored lines at the bottom. I like to create a lot of texture in masculine cards. I think that's the trick. So, I added some buttons, distressing, and used lots of foam adhesive. Thanks for taking a peek! Have a great Saturday!! Instructions- Trim olive cardstock to 4.25"x 5.5".
- Stamp anchor links on bottom of olive cardstock.
- Score lines between the anchor stamped links.
- Trim skinny strips of brown, blue, red, and orange cardstocks, then adhere on right side of olive cardstock.
- Tie twine around olive cardstock.
- Adhere buttons.
- Stamp sentiment on white cardstock, cut out, and adhere to olive cardstock with foam adhesive.
- Stamp sailboat on orange and blue cardstock and cut out.
- Adhere sailboat to a square brown cardstock.
- Distress the edges of the brown cardstock and adhere to olive cardstock with dimensionals.
- Cut a small piece of red cardstock for the flag and adhere to brown cardstock.

TGIF! Remember my "Fast Friday Cards?" Well, they're back! These mini cards were made last month for a color challenge, but I never posted them, thinking they were not good enough. After staring at them for weeks, I decided I should share them eventually. They are VERY simple cards and are really easy to make. I basically trimmed my white cardstock to make the card bases. Then, I die cut the squares. I stamped, punched, and added a ribbon/bling to them. Very simple. Have you seen the March issue of CARDS magazine yet? I received mine yesterday and you can see one of my cards on page 118! I'm really excited since this is my first card ever published! I couldn't believe the great news when they notified me of the acceptance. I thought it would be a lifetime before March arrived, but it's HERE! I've submitted lots of projects for publication and have received acceptances and denials, so it's all just a process now. I'll share my published card with you next month. Have a great Friday and come back tomorrow to check out the baby book scrapbook layouts. I can't believe it's Thursday already! YAAAY! Tonight, I finished the baby scrapbook (whew)! I took some photos of it, but they're not too great. I'll share them with you this weekend. The scrapbook is very simple and basic. When I make scrapbooks without the photos, it is very limiting because I can't embellish areas of the page that I might if I had the photo to to add to the page. Regardless, it's a great idea for a new mom who does not have time to make a scrapbook. Here's a special, handmade one in an instant (well, for her it will be an instant - for me it took 4 nights)! I'm just glad I chose to do an 8x8 book and not anything larger. Anyway, today's card is a sympathy card and uses the pleated trim I bought in NYC a couple of weekends ago. Man, I love NYC and can't wait to visit again. I just can't get enough of that City. There are so many new things to see and do every visit. I hope each of you find strenth in family and friends because that's priceless and something you can't buy in NYC! :) Thanks for stopping by and have a throwback Thursday (whatever that means)! Instructions- Trim kiwi kiss cardstock to 4.25" x 11", then score at 11".
- Stamp floral spray and cut out.

Happy Hump Day! Today's card was inspired by another card I made last year. I can't link it because it is going to be published this summer. I changed quite a few things about the card, so this one is basically an original. My cards usually morph as I am creating them. You can see the metamorphosis on this card because if this sketch were thought out in advance, I would have placed the three squares slightly higher to center it more. But, then again, that's what makes card making fun and interesting, right?! Unfortunately, I didn't finish the baby scrapbook because I was given a one day extension and when that happens...I take it! :) I only finished one layout and got "creator's block." I thought I should stop because I'd rather create something that looks great, instead of something forced. So, I hope I have plenty of creativity bubbling tomorrow night! :) One last request, today make a wish, smile, and enjoy your day! Thanks for stopping by and I hope to 'see' you tomorrow! Instructions- Trim cardstock to 4.25" x 11", then score at 5.5".

It's Tuesday already! My Monday went by fast, did yours? This is one of my cards I stamped this weekend. Since Papertrey Ink sold out of the Damask Designs set, I found this design in one of the SU Simply Sent sets. I really like it and have made a variety of cards and even wedding themed paper art with it. This is an anniversary card and also features satin pleated trim from New York City. I went on a surprise mini vacation for Valentine's and picked this up at M&J Trimming. That place was PACKED full of ribbons, trims, and buttons. It really was overwhelming, so I stuck with pleated trim on this trip! Some were expensive so I limited myself to one yard, which is plenty when working with cards. What do you think? I liked it because it was something different than the usual flat ribbon and like nothing I've seen before. It reminds me of a skirt (giggle)! I made a matching envelope too with my new favorite design stamp. Oh yeah, thanks to everyone wishing me and my knee better. It is healing well and I'm being a little more cautious than usual now! As for the baby scrapbook I'm working on, I got pretty far tonight by finishing 3 layouts and the cover page too! Tomorrow, I hope to finish it completely, but that's a big goal because I have 6 more layouts!! I do have layout themes mapped out, so hopefully it won't take long. Instructions- Trim ocean tides cardstock to 4.25" x 5.5"
- Stamp damask design on the bottom of ocean tides cardstock (using stamp-a-majig).
- Stamp leaves on kraft cardstock, then cut out.
- Adhere trim above stamped design.

How was your weekend? Mine was great and was not as expected. Does that happen to you? I thought I needed much rest for my knee, but it was not as bad as I thought and now just has minor bruising and the scrapes. It's still sensitive to the touch, but like any bruise you may have, you just say, "OUCH!" and move on. So, instead of working on the baby scrapbook (like I should have - I only finished one page), I went to a dance competition in DC and also helped Mac with his photography business. I made a handful of cards that I'll share with you this week. I'm saving them because I know I'll be working hard on that baby book I barely started. Did I ever tell you all that I'm a procrastinator and most times like working that way...under pressure. Somehow, that motivates me to move FAST! Anyway, I'm enjoying the Oscars and routing for Slumdog Millionaire and Benjamin Button because I thought they were good and well, they were the only movies up for awards that I saw besides the Dark Knight and Hancock. :) This card is for Loonie's Stamper Challenge. We were challenged to use kraft cardstock, a shade of pink and NO RIBBON! OUCH! I think that hurt worse than my knee!! I love ribbon and even double it up on some cards, so I made this very basic back-to-school card, wishing a student or educational faciliator the best for the school year (a girl of course)! I slightly cheated with the paperclip because it has a little cream on it, but I thought the paperclip was a good addition to a school-themed card. Have a great Monday! How to Make it:- Trim kraft cardstock to 4.25" x 11" then score at 5.5".
- Trim raspberry fizz cardstock into a square, then dry emboss.
- Stamp apples on sweet blush cardstock, then cut out and adhere to raspberry fizz cardstock using dimensionals.
- Adhere raspberry fizz cardstock to kraft card base with dimensionals.
- Add paperclip.
- Stamp sentiment.

TGIF...for real! I didn't create anything tonight because I needed to take it easy. At lunch, I had quite the fall down some concrete steps...UGH! Somehow, I missed a small step, at the top of the flight, causing my leg to give out. My knee absorbed all of the fall, so it's...busted, swollen, scraped, and bruised! How do you scrape your knee with jeans on and not tear a hole in the denim? Well I did just that today! I could have cried after I got up realizing I really hurt myself, but didn't and continued to get my lunch from the restaurant (picture me: limping inside)! Not too much stops me from eating, which means I'm fine! Anyway, enough about my clumsy fall. Today, I'm sharing with you one of my Stampin' Up! only cards that I made earlier this week. When I first saw these little baby, baby trees (SIDENOTE: saying that reminds me of Will Farrow in Talledega Nights reference to sweet little baby, baby Jesus), I had to have them. It's pretty plain and simple, but most of my cards are! Hope you have a great weekend. I'll be doctoring my knee and making a baby scrapbook. I'm off to elevant this puppy! Later! :) Instructions- Trim brown cardstock to 4.25" x 5.5".

Happy Thursday! Short weeks go by so fast! I'm not feeling as lazy tonight, so I am going to post all details and instructions! This card is inspired by K. Werner's Color Challenge and is ALL STAMPIN' UP!. I haven't participated in a few weeks (well, last week I made a Valentine's card for Mac, but never posted that). This year, I have 3 graduations and all are graduate school, post-graduate school, or some other professional study. So, I thought I'd start now on making some graduation cards because before I know it, May will be here. As a random side note, I purchased Make it Tonight by FineCooking.com at Whole Foods last week. I've cooked 3 dishes so far and all were FABULOUS. I like to cook, but get bored easily when I run out of new dishes. This magazine and website have re-sparked my cooking motivation. Mac has enjoyed all of the dishes too. The website features countless recipes. Grab the magazine or just check out the website, both are great starts to a happy stomach! Most times, I add my own twist to each recipe to make it my own (similar to card making), but they give you such great ideas for new meals. Enjoy! Have a good one and thanks for stopping by! Instructions- Trim kiwi kiss cardstock to 4.25" x 11", then score at 5.5".

Edited to Add:Many requests regarding the flourish stamp used above. It's an Inkadinkado wood mounted rubber stamp that I purchased at AC Moore. There is no 'name' listed on the stamp, but you should be able to locate it on their wall of stamps. Last time I checked, it was still there. They have two sizes, small and large. I used the large one on the card above and stamped it twice. I hope you can find it! I made four cards using Four Square by Stampin' Up! All of the cards are quite different, but at the same time similar because I used kraft cardstock and brown ink. I used simple one layer stamping, then added the square as a dimension. I only used ribbon on one, but that was because I took it too far! I was supposed to do simple cards only! I have a lot of cards and I have finally decided to part with them. Most of the cards, if not all, have all been posted on the blog, so you have seen them before. I am going to slowly, but surely update my online store. I have neglected the store for quite some time now, but I wanted to make sure I used it more this year. So, be on the look out for some 'for sale' posts...hopefully sooner than later. Not interested in my cards? Well, you may want to keep an eye out for some craft supply for sale postings. Soon, I will be looking for new homes that will appreciate some great craft supplies I have neglected over the past few months from Prima flowers to stamps. I hope all of my readers can find something to buy. So, start saving a few dollars and get ready! Anyway, for these cards, I'm not going to post instructions or supplies because tonight I'm being lazy...really...and I want to go watch American Idol (on TiVo). But, if you have any questions on what I have used or how I made the cards, please feel free to ask by leaving a comment or e-mailing me. I'll update the post as necessary! Want these cards? They will be available to purchase very soon!
Live Your Bliss... This card is a simple card that can be for many occasions. I made it for a couple who renewed their vows. I'm really liking purple and green on cards lately. Have you all seen the new release over at PTI? I'm going to place my order next week and hope they keep everything in stock! Typically, I like to make sure I want the items I order and try not to impulse shop...anymore! I have a list, but I'm sure by next week, there will be a change with items I need and others crossed off that aren't as necessary. I have to remind myself that I can always buy some later. I'm just now getting around to making a few cards with my SU! stamp sets I ordered from the new catty. I have one more stamp set to use and then I'll be happy that they are not neglected and can move on to order MORE! :) My camera battery was out (which seems to happen every time I turn it on to take a photo), so I will share some with you tomorrow. It's President's Day and we had the day off! It's great having extra long weekends. This card is in honor of President's Day. Most times, people acknowledge past presidents who are deceased, but I decided to highlight our current president because it's historical and also because Mac took this photo. Doesn't it look like Mr. President is looking at Mac? Well...he is! So, I decided to create a card with the photo to capture the moment. In this photo, President Obama is conversing with Virginia's Governor, Tim Kaine. This card is a very different style for me. I'm not sure if I like it, but it's a photo card and I don't make them often, so maybe that's why. I think there are too many bling! LOL Anyway, enjoy your day (what's left of it). I'm off to get a hair cut! YES! I love hair cuts! You'll have to wait and see what I change this time...always something bold...something new! Happy Friday Everyone! Here is a fabric covered chipboard frame I made last month. It is a sentiment-featured card. I popped some of the important words out using coordinating cardstock. The card is actually really simple to make. The most time consuming component is applying the fabric to the chipboard frame, but very similar to applying paper to chipboard, except it is not as stiff, so you have to work fast to get it adhered right where you want it! Tomorrow is Valentine's Day and I hope you all enjoy it! Have a great weekend! Instructions- Create A7 card base (5" x 7")
- Take chipboard frame and trace shape onto fabric and cut out.
- Adhere fabric to chipboard and distress edges.
- Trim brown cardstock to fit behind chipboard frame.
- Stamp sentiment on brown cardstock + words on green cardstock and adhere together.
- Tie ribbons around frame and adhere frame to card base using dimensionals.

Here is a simple thinking of you card I made last week. Instead of sending a get well card, I decided to use 'thinking of you'. I like using various shades of green with the raspberry cardstock. Monochromatic cards with a pop of color appeal to me. I've also used this layout many times, but somehow it looks different with each card. Right now, I'm working on some cards featuring some of the new SU! stamps. I tried to make a set earlier, but was exhausted and I just crashed. I did get some of the stamping and punching done, so a part of the work is done. I hit a block and decided to lay down! I hope to share them with you next week, if not sooner! Today, I'm sharing a card for CPS sketch, which is sponsored by PTI this week. I decided to use a more vintage style by distressing the edges and using lace. It's a really simple card and can be given to someone for many occasions, including friendship, birthday, love, or just because. So...what do you think? According to the poll that I conducted on the blog for the past week, most people want the blog to remain the same. Based on the people who did vote, a large number requested video or image tutorials. I've decided to give both a try. Now, this doesn't mean I will contribute video or image tutorials every week, but maybe once a month, depending on how much time it will take to edit and add these features. If I like one more than the other, I'll probably just select one for the future to always use. Thanks so much for each of you who voted. I appreciate your input! Here's how to create this card: - Trim brown cardstock to 4.25" x 11", then score at 5.5".
- Trim raspberry fizz cardstock to about 3.5" x 4.5"
- Stamp gridline design.
- Add lace trim.
- Distress edges and adhere to card base with dimensionals.
- Punch heart and distress edges.
- Adhere to card base with dimensionals.
- Add rhinestones and key.
- Stamp sentiment on pink cardstock, distress, and adhere under heart.
- Add rhinestones to center of gridlines design.

This card was inspired by Dee Woodland (Hi Dee!!)! She made this card. For this week's Loonie Stamper's Challenge, we were to case another Loonie card. I decided to case one of Dee's cards because she has great layouts and ideas that are very inspirational. I am combining this card with today's PTI Challenge - card for a friend. The sentiment can be for a birthday, just because, or friend to brighten their day! I chose to case her layout and use of a bird and distressing technique. I thought it went well together. I changed the color scheme and instead of crackling the bird, I used fun flock (because I have no crackle)! I hope you all have a wonderful day! Today is the last day you can 'vote' in the poll on blog ideas. Thanks for stopping by! Have a wonderful day and make this card: - Trim plum pudding, lavender moon, and pattern paper into squares that will fit on the card base and matte on each other.
- Distress the edges of all trimmed pieces (use your scissors if you don't have a distresser, it works great)
- Adhere Plum pudding cardstock to card base.
- Adhere pattern paper on top of lavender moon.
- Tie ribbon around pattern paper square.
- Adhere pattern paper square to card base on top of plum pudding cardstock.
- Stamp sentiment on white cardstock, cut out, then adhere on lavendar moon cardstock and cut out. Adhere to card base with dimensionals.
- Bird-Apply generous amount of Gel Medium/Tacky Glue to chipboard and apply fun flock to bird (apply 3 or more coats until you get good coverage).
- Adhere lavender moon cardstock to chipboard wing, then cut out and distress edges and adhere to bird.
- Adhere bird to card base with dimensionals and add rhinestone to the "eye."

PTI is still celebrating their anniversary with more challenges. I'm REALLY late with this one, but will get it entered into the contest for the loads of cardstock just in time! Yesterday, somehow I completed my bag, but didn't enter it on Nichole's blog until later that morning (after the deadline). What a dumb dumb!! So, I was determined to do it right tonight! I'm really, really tired, but just HAD to participate! So, I hope you like my card. We went to the Washington Auto Show tonight and had a great time! I LOVE CARS! They have some great new ones to be released in 2010! We wrapped up the evening in Chinatown with great Chinese food! My feet are tired and I'm exhausted, so I'm going to get some rest before our 'big' trip to NC in the morning! I know...we're crazy! Have a great weekend! You can make this card too...here's how: - Grab a PTI pre-scored A2 card.
- Stamp circles in varying inks on card front.
- Punch circles using matching cardstocks.
- Trim bottom portion off of card base (about 1/2").
- Trim summer sunrise cardstock to about 5.5" x 2" and scallop punch the edge.
- Adhere summer sunrise cardstock to bottom portion of card base to make it an A2 card again.
- Tie ribbon around card base.
- Adhere circles using dimensionals.
- Add buttons and stamp sentiment.

Yes...it's Thursday! The week is going by fairly fast for me. How about you? I made this card a few weekends ago. This card wishes one happy times in their home. It's great for a house warming or a recent move! Circle cards this size (4.25" diameter) fit perfectly in an A2 envelope for mailing. Try a circle card and create something outside of the 'square' or 'rectangle'!!! If you don't like it, then adhere it to a larger A6 or A7 card base! It can make a great focal point too! There are no mistakes in cardmaking...you just have to make it work! Wishing you all the happiest of days, today! Don't forget...answer the poll if you haven't already. Instructions - Die cut scallop circles (two).
- Score top of one scallop circle, then adhere to the other (only above the scored portion).
- Die cut circles.
- Paper pierce white circle.
- Adhere berry sorbert circle to white circle.
- Add buttons and stamp sentiment.
- Tie ribbon in a knot and add house charm.
- Adhere white circle to card base with dimensionals.

Today, I decided to share this sympathy card I made this past weekend (for my mom to give). It's very simply style. This design is perfect to finish the card on the inside and the envelope. Don't forget to answer the poll on the left side of the blog! You have a few more days! I received my SU! order the other night and really have not had the chance to play with anything yet except my top note die! I have a cuttlebug and risked buying the die to see if it really works. Well, it does! I will make a separate post for it later, but wanted to share the great news for those of you who already have a die machine and didn't want to purchase a Big Shot just to use the dies. You don't have to , just purchase the dies! It went through very easy and die cut perfectly. I'll share the very QUICK card I made using part of the die cut later. Here's how you can make this card: - Make card base by trimming brown cardstock to 4.25" x 11", then score at 5.5".
- Trim white cardstock to about 4" x 5".

- Stamp sentiment on tag.
- Tie ribbon into a bow around brown cardstock.
- Tie tag around ribbon.

I'm really liking the raspberry fizz cardstock and find that it goes with almost every color! How on earth is that possible? I brought out my 'old' SU! Always bird...a classic! This is more of my scrappy style of a card that I typically do not do. It take a lot of steps and was difficult for me to tell you how to make because I did it last weekend! It's a lot of layering. I've added a poll to the blog on the left. I just wanted to know whether anyone wanted to see more out of my blog. I was pondering a few ideas and wanted to see if they're even worth my efforts. So, if you get a chance, select one or more options to the poll OR you can even leave me a comment/email with any suggestions. I like to share my work and any information I find useful with each of you and want to make sure that it is effective! A few weeks ago, my sister and I were 'models' for Mac, the photographer! Take a peek here and give him some love for those awesome shots! Thanks for stopping by to see my birthday birdie. You have a great Tuesday! Happy Birthday, Mommy! This posting is dedicated to my mother whose birthday is today! We celebrated this weekend with dinner at SweetWater Tavern and a movie - Slumdog Millionaire. The food was fabulous and the movie was OUTSTANDING! Mac and I love SweeWater and decided to share it with her and she soon realized why we rave over it! The food and service is like no other. No wonder there is almost always a wait (good thing we phoned ahead because our wait time was nearly 2 hours) and no carryout order policy!! As for the movie, normally I do not like the award winning/nominated films, but this one I really enjoyed. If you have not seen it already, well please try; it's worth every penny! I haven't seen a lot of movies, but I think Slumdog beats Benjamin Button! This card was inspired by the Loonie Stamper's Challenge colors of lemon tart, dark chocolate, raspberry fizz, and plum pudding. When I saw the colors, I thought that there was no way I could make card with those colors. I ended up liking how it turned out, but more importantly, so did my mom (well at least she said she did)!!! So, will you make a card with these colors? Well, here's how I made this one: Instructions- Make card base by trimming cardstock to 4.25" x 11" then score at 5.5"
- Stamp damasks in a pattern on card base.
- Trim raspberry fizz cardstock into two different strips and adhere to bottom of card base.
- Tie ribbon around card base.
- Adhere flowers and dew dots over damask pattern.
- Stamp sentiment.
