How's your weekend going? Mine has been VERY restful! It's a pretty yucky, cold and wet day here. However, I was able to make a few cards earlier today. I am posting this one before Kristine's Color Challenge deadline is over. The colors reminded me of a baby card. Orange and blue are complimentary colors and work perfect together. I also tried something I rarely do and that's...PAPER PIECE! I do not paper piece because it involves extra steps that I am too impatient to take! It was not too bad and good to bring color in a mono-tone stamp when you do not have Copics or know how to use them!
I'm heading out to my office holiday party. I hope I win something!! Hope you enjoy the remainder of your weekend!
Here's how you can create this baby card too!
- Trim brown cardstock to 4.25" x 11", then score at 5.5" for your card base and set aside.
- Trim two rectangles in the orange and blue cardstocks so they mat together.
- Dry emboss polka dots on blue cardstock.
- Tie brown ribbon around rectangle. (TIP: to save ribbon, use a small part just to cover the ends of the rectangle, then use a smaller piece of ribbon to actually tie the knot)
- Stamp sailboat on white, orange, brown, and green cardstock.
- Stamp polka dots on green cardstock.
- Paper piece the boat together by cutting the parts you want to adhere to the white sailboat.
- Cut out sailboat.
- Stamp rectangle + sentiment on white cardstock and cut out.
- Stamp "boy" and cut out.
- Mat on green cardstock.
- Adhere rectangle + sailboat to blue cardstock using dimensionals.
- Adhere "boy" to card base.
- Add heart pin to ribbon knot.

Love it!
I said WOW when I first saw your card, Ashley. Gorgeous! The embossed dots on the Baja Breeze layer add a great texture. I like your tip about how to save ribbon. I'm all not wasting ribbon. I love that heart pin. I have some that I haven't used yet.
In your description you meant to say PIECING, not PIERCING, right?
Very pretty!
Adorable!
This is great, so lovely!
