Fast Friday {Holiday} Card

Today's fast card is for the upcoming holidays. This weekend I should finalize my holiday card collection. If you want something special, please e-mail me so we can discuss all of the details! Otherwise, you can just select one of my template designs for this year! For those of you who have already placed an order, don't worry, I have it written down! Remember, most designs are limited to the supplies I can get and may require minor altering due to limited materials.

Most of my cards transform. Does this happen to anyone else? My husband asked me how I create cards and whether I have a plan of action. So, I thought about his question and realized that majority of the time, I start with one thing (it could be a stamp set I want to use, a tool, color, etc.) then go from there not knowing what's next.

This time, I saw "that" Martha Stewart lace border punch. Well, I'm mad at "it" because it does not work with heavy-weight papers, such as Papertrey Ink, SU!, or Bazzill cardstocks. Does anyone else out there have the same problem? When I do try to use it with the above-mentioned cardstocks, it gets jammed and does not punch properly. So, I used a light-weight cardstock from Paper Source. It worked, so I HAD to use that one piece I punched this time to get faith back in my $10 or so purchase. Looking at the card now, I think I want to put a strip of green cardstock between the pattern paper and the white lace border. Anyway...

Here is how to create it:
  1. Make card base by cutting cardstock to 4.25" x 11", then score at 5.5".
  2. Trim white (light-weight) cardstock to 4.25" x about 2", then punch lace border.
  3. Trim pattern paper to 4.25" x about 3", then adhere to lace border, then adhere to card base.
  4. Die cut a circle in white cardstock and a scalloped (larger) circle in green cardstock (using nestabilities and cuttlebug).
  5. Stamp sentiment on white circle, then adhere to scalloped circle.
  6. Die cut tree in green cardstock and adhere to circle.
  7. Tie white ribbon around card base to cover pattern paper edge.
  8. Pop circle off of ribbon.
  9. Add stickles to tree.
  10. Say I DID IT!

Oh this is just gorgeous, Ashley.
I had a problem with one of my MS punch, but Michaels was nice to replace it (but, I made sure to show them the CS...goodluck!)

I usually start with a sketch and what's the perfect image and then go from there. Whatever way you create, you sure do make a fabulous card...EVERYTIME :)

Hope you have a great weekend!
