SCS Product Review :: Core'dinations

Today, SCS Product Focus Review Team has released another review. Core'dinations is a cardstock with colored cores that you can distress, sand, tear, or retain in its original state. We have a lot of samples you can view here. You can read the review here. I also completed my first tutorial for SCS on crinkling the cardstock. You may see it here. Tell me what you think about it! The card I am sharing today is the card used for the tutorial, so you can read more about it there.

Happiness...Always + Nestabilities Tutorial

TGIF!! It's an extra long weekend for me, here in the DC area as we prepare for a major weekend event for the Presidential Inauguration. It is a big deal, let me tell you. Many streets are closing, the mass transit system is going to be FULL and there will be people EVERYWHERE! It is a historical event, BUT it will also be freezing, PLUS I have no tickets to events, so I am not going downtown to be cold and stand outside with everyone to see...nothing when I can STAMP, CREATE, and INSPIRE right here and watch it all on the good old TV with a clear view! I'm really looking forward to my 4-day weekend!

So, with that said, today's card focuses on the sentiment. It is extremely simple and easy to make. I hope you like it! If so, the instructions are below. If you case this card (or any of my projects) please just give me a little tiny bit of credit for my originality and effort into providing instructions for you! :) THANKS and have a wonderful holiday weekend! I should be back tomorrow with a color challenge card.

  2. Dry emboss card base front.
  3. Die cut rectangle.
  4. Dry emboss rectangle frame.

Stand Alone

Some cards can say enough by themselves, so that's why I left this one blank, so to speak. I did not put a sentiment on the front because I thought it would take away from the card, plus, I did not want to limit it to one use, such as birthday, when it could be used for a notecard, or anniversary, or thank you (you get the point). So, I call this a stand alone card.

Here is how I did it:
  1. Make card base by cutting cardstock to 4.25" x 11", then score at 5.5"
  2. Ink negative side of embossing folder with chalk ink (negative side is the side with the cuttlebug logo - just in case you were confused like me at first). Inking the embossing folder will give you another color to your cardstock and make it have more texture.
  3. Place the card base in the embossing folder and emboss in Cuttlebug.
  4. Trim strips of green cardstock, then adhere randomly on card base.
  5. Adhere paper flowers to tops of green strips.
  6. Add buttons to the insides of flowers.
  7. Cut leaves from green cardstock, then adhere to stems.
  8. Scallop edge punch pink cardstock, then adhere to blue cardstock.
  9. Adhere the blue cardstock with scallop edged pink cardstock to the bottom of the card base.
  10. Tie green ribbon around the bottom base of the card into a bow.
  11. Adhere small paper flowers around the knot.
  12. Add stickles to the centers of the flowers.
**By the way, I have not forgotten about holiday cards, I need to finish some more up and I should have them posted by this weekend. I hate being late!**
