Maui Inspiration

Gotta love that picture! This was taken by McArthur Newell, my DH, while on our honeymoon in Maui! You can view some photos on Bold Lifestyle, which is an interesting new site that allows you to showcase your photographs in creative categories. Can't you just feel like you are there when looking at this picture? I had to share this photo because I was getting the urge to return to Maui soon! Pictures are a great way to remember your vacations and are also great inspirations for cards. From this photo, I was inspired to create the card below! Although I do not have one favorite color, I do have a favorite group of colors, and that is earth tones. Most people do not consider beach colors earth tones, but I do because they are from the earth! The blues, greens, and browns in this photo are brighter hues than your typical earth tones, but are still calm, comforting, and cool!

This color inspired card used shades of the sand, water, and current. Butterflies were stamped and popped off the paper for dimension to mimic flutter. All stamps are from a new Inkadinkado clear set available at Joann Fabrics. Hemp string was tied around the card for texture. Some brads were applied for a finished look. "It's been too long..." stamped as the sentiment for this card because I wish I were back in Maui on the beach! If it's been too long since you have spoken to someone, this card will definitely close that gap in time!

How cute! I love that you used your DH's photo for the color inspiration. Clever.
