Happy Day!

I am now on a scrap feast. I plan on only using scraps when at all possible to create any future cards. I have way too many and they are out of control. For this card, I selected the brown stripe pattern paper by SU! and coordinating taupe and brown cardstocks were found in my scrap pile. I selected the blue cardstock as a pop of color for the card base and the pop-up.

I stamped the tree limb and owl in brown and placed dew dots on the eyes to create a googly eye appeal. The sentiment is stamped above on blue cardstock and popped off. I used a crop-a-dile to set eyelets, then tied brown stitched ribbon to the sides.

So, I have proven to myself there are countless cards just sitting in my scrap pile!

For the inside, I created a gift card holder. As shown, a gift card, check, or cash fits perfectly snug in this pocket. To create the pocket, I cut a 4.25" wide piece and adhered it to the bottom (only around the edges). I punched half of a 1" circle at the top for the opening. I stamped "for you" on white cardstock and distressed it with QQ powder puff.

For the greeting, I distressed a 5.25 x 4" white cardstock with QQ powder puff. I adhered a taupe cardstock on top (scrap paper) and stamped another owl image on the bottom right corner. I created the greeting in Microsoft Word using Acoustic Bass font and printed it directly on the cardstock.
