Card Gift Box Set

It's the day after Christmas and time for some shopping. The LSS in Greensboro is having a sale and I'm also going to check out a new store and crop with a new scrapbooking friend!

Today, I'm sharing my gift to most this year. It included a gift box (from Archiver's) and 5 cards with various sentiments and vanilla envelopes (all from Archiver's). I used Papertrey Ink's Ripe Avocado cardstock and embossed it with Swiss Dots Cuttlebug embossing folder, then corner-rounded the edges. Papertrey Ink's Piece of Cake stamp set has a curly label stamp that I used and cut out to include the sentiments. The sentiments were from various stamp sets by Papertrey Ink, Close to My Heart, and Verve Visual. I wrapped brown ribbon around the green cardstock and popped the curly label off of the center. These sets were a big hit this Christmas!

Oh yeah, that nice green ribbon on the outer box is by Paper Source, but Archiver's now carries it too!

Happy Birthday, Amy

I'm so excited! This morning, I am heading out to the Great American Scrapbook Convention in Chantilly, VA. I did not register for any classes, but will be taking advantage of the "Make and Takes" and any other special offers vendors will be offering! I'll be sure to tell you all about it since this will be my first time as an attendee!

I was commissioned to create a wine bag with a matching card for a birthday. I started designing this combo with the bag. First, I covered majority of the bag with pattern paper. I just picked it up last Friday from Scrapdoodles and LOVE IT! Next, I applied the blue cardstock to the top portion of the bag. To make finish the look, I applied ribbon around the two, then adhered to the bag. I placed flowers to the left corner of the bag and added inked stamens for a realistic flower appeal. I popped on thickers to personalize the bag, then stamped the sentiment in an off-centered position in brown ink.

Here, you can see the both bag and card together as an 'ensemble.' From what I hear, Amy's husband recently was deployed to Iraq for the first time (and deployed anywhere for the first time in his nearly 20 years of service), so needless to say, this is a very difficult time. However, it is still her birthday and friends want to celebrate with her and definitely pick her up. I hope the wine...oh yeah and the bag and card help to make her feel juuuuuust a little better!

To create the card, I had a difficult time at first. Then, I got the nifty idea to cut out the design images of the pattern paper and adhere them to the card base. I affixed all of them flatly to the card base, except the one in the center, which I popped off. I added the sentiment in brown ink around the popped image for the finishing touch.

You're Expecting!

I hope everyone had a great weekend! I had a very BUSY weekend. I had to finish a baby scrapbook, gift bag and card by Sunday afternoon. Well...I met my deadline! I think I work better under pressure; not having time to think whether this or that will look better! Pictured right is a close-up of a gift bag for expecting mother, Emerald! I customized the bag, card, and baby scrapbook for her. This project was for my mother to give as a gift at the shower.

Here is the card I created. I used the New Arrival Cricut cartridge to make the pregnant die-cut mommy. It is difficult to find some ethnic cards, so the Cricut and various shades of paper make that possible! I made the mommy have a pink dress with black pants, pumps and purse! I embellished with black stickles around the empire waistline, created an eye for her face, and also placed a K&Co adhesive pearl to accent the purse! I placed the entire die-cut on white card stock that is matted on black card stock and pink polka dot paper (K&Co 12x12 stack). The base of the card is solid black card stock. The sentiment "you're expecting" is a clear stamp set from AC Moore (can't recall now - will post later)!

This picture shows the bag and the card together. I recycled an older bag (that was never used by the way from my previous business). I covered the old logo with solid black card stock and placed a large pink ribbon around it and tied it in a knot. I added a larger die-cut, matted with same matching papers to the black card stock. Lastly, I added her name, Emerald, for personalization.

All things paper is my specialty, so that includes gift bags too! Scrapbook layouts for the baby girl book I created are posted here and here.

Simple Delights Note Cards

I made a set of note cards. There are two different designs in the set. There are five note cards pictured left with the sentiment "Just Because You're You." An example of the remaining five note cards is pictured right with the sentiment "Delight in Simple Things." I created this set SU! Simply Sent card kits "Simple Delights." Their card kits make it easy for you to create note cards in a jiffy!

I bundled the set of note cards in a Clearly Creative Card Box. They can be purchased at Papertrey Ink. I decorated the outside of the clear card box with leftover matching card stock and twill tape from the card kit. Yes, the card kit provides more than enough pieces, so if you make a mistake, you have plenty!

Wine and All that Jazz

Today, I decided to share one of my common gifts...wine and all that jazz! I went to a friends/family 40th surprise birthday celebration a few weeks ago and decided to give her a bottle of wine. Handing a bottle of wine to the gift recipient is lovely and very thoughtful, but looks much better with a card that matches the bottle packaging. First, I designed the card using American Crafts Tomato Basil patterned paper and Archiver's 5x5 card. I stamped the present and enjoy using Timber Brown StazeOn ink. I added green ribbon and red jewel brads. Once the card was complete, I used leftover patterned paper to cover the bulk of the wine bottle. I dressed this wine up with a green strip and decorated it with jeweled stickers to make a button-down shirt effect. I added a green and red ribbon, both tied in bows. Together, they make an attractive couple I must say! This gift received much attention at the party! By the way, I gave a Pinot Noir!

On my upcoming "Shopping" web site, I plan to offer a selection of gift bags, including wine containers with matching cards, so you too can be the talk of the party! So, keep checking, as I am working on paper art to sell on the web site.
