Hey Everyone! I barely made it to the PTI Blog Hop! I was really rushing here placing the final touches on my gift bag. I chose the more traditional route and used a kraft gift bag I had in my craft supply and altered it for "Fresh Homemade Goodies...Just for you, My Friend!" So, here's a brown paper bag project that even adults can appreciate.
I was inspired by a segment on Good Morning America today that featured chalkboard sticky labels. I wanted to order them, but thought I could use my Spellbinders™ Labels Four die templates and some white ink to replicate the chalkboard concept. I really like how that part turned out!
Thanks for hopping by. Here are so more details on my gift bag.
Instructions
Trim polka dotted patterned paper and adhere to bag front.
Trim hawaiian shores cardstock strip and adhere to bag front.
Die cut scalloped edge border from felt and adhere to bag front.
Trim another hawaiian shores cardstock strip (slightly larger than the previous one) and adhere to the top part of the bag front.
Die cut jars, stamp insides and lids.
Stamp imitation fabric, cut out and assemble jars.
Adhere jars together.
Die cut label from black cardstock and stamp sentiments.
Die cut larger label from black cardstock. Stamp border and sentiment.
Punch hole and set eyelet.
Add ribbon and flower treatment and secure label on bag front.
Adhere stamped jars to the center of the bag.
Add tissue paper.

Hi there! I hope you're enjoying your weekend. I had a full day of cleaning, purging, and organizing. I have a few huge bags of clothes, purses, and shoes to donate to charity. My closet is actually looking better now! So, while I waited for some laundry in the washer and dryer, I took some time to finish up a project and join Papertrey's July Blog Hop! This challenge was all about office supplies, so I used a ledger stamp, spiral notebook punch, and a mini library clip to create this card. There's a story behind this card, but I can't share it just yet! I'm be sure to tell the story a bit later! Anyway, here are some details about this card.
Instructions
Trim kraft cardstock to create an A2 card base and emboss the front.
Stamp ledger background on rustic cream cardstock, trim to about 3" x 4", then punch spirals.
Ink the edges and entire cardstock.
Stamp clouds and balloon baskets on the cardstock.
Stamp balloons on a scrap piece of cardstock, cut out, ink the edges, then pop off stamped cardstock.
Add twine treatment and mini library clip.
Pop 'notebook' piece off card front at an angle
Supplies
Stamps :: Papertrey Ink - up, up & away; Unity Stamp Co - old ledger Ink :: Close to My Heart - bamboo; Ranger - spiced marmalade, antique linen, tea dye; Papertrey Ink - enchanted evening Cardstock :: Papertrey Ink - kraft, rustic cream Embellishments :: Stampin' Up! - mini library clip; May Arts - twine Tools :: Provo Craft - swiss dots embossing folder, cuttlebug; EK Success - spiral notebook punch
Before I leave, I just wanted to remind you all about the photography session I'm planning to post this week! Here are the details, so don't forget to check it out! Thanks so much for stopping by! Enjoy your day!
Hey Bleeps! I hope you had a great weekend! I'm back today with a card to share...finally! I've been in a travel mood lately, so this vintage card is what I created. There are so many fun elements and techniques used in this project and I so enjoyed this creative process. I'll take you on that journey:
Instructions
Trim vellum to about a 4.75" square, then stamp text background with black ink.
Adhere vellum to black 5" card base with adhesive in the corners.
Add distress ink to envelope, then pop it off card front at an angle.
Tie ribbon treatment with button and twine around card base.
Mat vintage photo on black cardstock. Using pinking decorative scissors, trim the black mat cardstock edges, then adhere to card front.
Stamp sentiment on cream cardstock, add distress ink, then adhere to card front.
Add buttons to card corners to hide adhesive under vellum.
Supplies
Stamps :: PTI – background basics (text style); Waltzingmouse Stamps – say it with style Cardstock :: PTI – vellum, true black, vintage cream Ink :: Tsukineko – tuxedo black; Ranger – antique linen, tea dye Embellishments :: Me & My Big Ideas – envelope, vintage photo; May Arts – twine; Memrie Marie – ribbon; PTI – true black buttons Tools :: Fiskars – decorative scissors
So, what have I been up to? I've been learning the new features of the iPhone 4. We were one of the few hundreds of thousands of new iPhone owners last Thursday. Our story: We reserved the phones online, but had to pick them up in the store. We wanted the delivery option; however, got stuck on their site, so we were grateful to still get a couple reserved. I complained, but now am happy we got the chance to experience the Apple fan frenzy! We woke up early, went to the mall, our closest Apple store, and saw the line wrapped around the bottom floor. McArthur and I made the decision to leave and return after work. Great idea! The line was A LOT shorter, but HE still waited 3 hours. I said "HE!" I love that our local Apple store is in a mall. First, it was very comfortable and had a lot of stuff to do, including shopping! I shopped around and returned to check on Mac while in line. He was very patient. He held my bags and I continued to shop. I did give him a break. I waited in the line for about maybe 20 minutes while he went to the Cheesecake Factory to get a beer! :) Perfect!
There were lots of funny memories in that line, including the man behind us. Another guy walked up to him and asked, "What's this line for?" And the guy behind us responded, "We're waiting in line for Fog Hat tickets." The guy mumbled, "You didn't have to be a smart ass" and walked off. I giggled really hard (you know the kind to yourself). I thought it was super funny. Well, the interesting part is, the guy returned and told the man behind us in line "You should've pre-ordered" and held out his phone to show his new iPhone 4. Weird, right?! So, I think the random guy knew what the line was for and wanted to be a jerk to show his phone. He had no bags, so why was he even in the mall? I guess to harass the folks in line. It kind of served him right to get the 'smart ass' comment that the guy blurted out. A 'real' random guy might have really thought we were waiting in line for tickets. Regardless, it gave us a good laugh in line!
I hope you got a kick out of that one story! Thanks so much for visiting! Enjoy your day and take care.
Hey Bleeps! I hope you had a fabulous weekend! I ventured down to North Carolina for our nephew's graduation. I whipped up this card right before we jetted out of town. It was super easy to make and matched the graduation invitation/high school colors (I think)! :) I'm also sharing how I usually finish the inside of my cards and one option I use to package them for hand delivery. I package the card in a glassine bag, then simply tie twine around it. You could do more, but since this card was for a young man, simple was best!
Instructions
Create an A2 size card base from rustic cream cardstock.
Stamp "Class of 2010" at the bottom.
Stamp argyle pattern at the top.
Stamp circle image and heat emboss with gold embossing powder, then die cut the circle.
Adhere navy strip, then add twine.
Then, pop circle die cut.
Tips & Tricks
When stamping, I personally do not have to have a dark complete impression. Take a look how the navy looks here, like a denim effect. Some people think it's not a good impression, but I like the way the stamp does not completely saturate the ink for a more rustic effect.
Punch tiny half holes on the sides of the card where the twine will be to hold it in place. Learned from PTI @ CHA! :)
Supplies
Stamps :: PTI - for the graduate, a little argyle Ink :: Versamark; PTI - enchanted evening; Ranger - old paper Cardstock :: PTI - enchanted evening, rustic cream Embellishments :: May Arts - twine Tools :: Spellbinders - standard circles small nestabilities (S4-116), wizard; Filigree - gold embossing powder; heat tool
Dearest Dad, I miss you. But, today I am going to celebrate your life. Thank you for being a great father who exemplified strength like no other.
My dad, a retired USAF veteran served as a military member and made the U.S. a safe place for me and you. Unfortunately, his life ended after fighting Multiple Sclerosis for over twenty years. My dad exemplified strength like no other.
Arlington Cemetery
Below, is a photo of my dad when he was stationed in the far east during his military career. I made this canvas altered project in honor of my dad a couple of years ago. I removed that polka dotted ribbon and it sits in my office at work. I love it. You can see the original post here.
My dad LOVED sweets! So, in his memory I made pecan turtles. You can find the recipe here. I used PTI's egg box and created a matching card. Hopefully, this project will give you a few ideas for a father/dad in your life to celebrate. So, who will I give mine to? My mom! She was my dad's caretaker for over 20 years. Although I had a dad for a long time, my mom was in many was like a dad too since my dad was ill most of my childhood. I'm sure she'll just take the candy and run! :) Don't get mad mommy when you read that part! *giggles*

Hey there! It's the weekend, but better yet I have a great ribbon favorite to share with you all. Nichole asked some of the DT and myself to share our favorite ribbon technique. Well, I was stumped for a few days, but finally decided on sharing how I like to layer my ribbons. Sometimes, I double ribbons and have two bows, while other times I may have a flat ribbon and a ruffled ribbon. Here, I decided to share double ruffled ribbon so you can see how I bunch the ribbon and create a wider ribbon effect. I even made a quick video on my ribbon ruffling technique.
Hey Bleeps*! Happy Hump Day to you! We're almost there, through the week that is! So, to help you out, I've got a few projects to share with you using some of Papertrey Ink's April release products!! Every release is so much fun, so I hope you enjoy my cards! This time, I was feeling a bit clean and simple, so here goes...
Instructions
Trim rustic cream cardstock to create an A2 card base.
Stamp wood grain background on card front.
Using tea dyes ink, distress the edges with the ink.
Trim kraft cardstock block (3" x 2.75") and emboss with scor-bug to create a frame.
Stamp sentiment, then adhere to enchanted evening cardstock (3" x 3.75").
Add twine to the bottom of enchanted evening cardstock.
Stamp dragon fly on rustic cream cardstock, cut out, ink with tea dye, and pop off kraft cardstock.
Pop focal pop off card front.
Tips & Tricks
When using the scor-bug to emboss dotted lines, use the scor-pal to score an even line.
Trim new leaf cardstock to create an A2 card base.
Trim rustic cream cardstock to 3.75" x 5" and stamp flower.
Color flower with Copic markers.
Ink entire cream cardstock with blending tool.
Stamp sentiment.
Add glitter to flowers.
Tie ribbon and add button/twine treatment.
Mat cardstock on sweet blush cardstock, then on raspberry fizz, then adhere to card base.
Tips & Tricks
When applying glitter, I use some tacky glue, place some on my fingertip, then rub on the area I want covered, then shake glitter over project. I dump the excess onto scrap paper and start over on any other areas to be glittered.

My Card
Selecting my favorites was a really difficult task because I like everything. So, when I finally narrowed down my list, I decided to challenge myself to create a card using all of my favorite PTI products that are up for grabs. While creating the card, I was not sure if I would be able to actually accomplish it, but with only one more stamp set to incorporate into the project, I made it work! So, here is my card using all of the PTI products that are up for grabs to win. The details and instructions are below.
Thanks so much for stopping by! Enjoy your weekend.
Instructions

Trim rustic cream cardstock block. Stamp sentiment and adhere to kraft cardstock.
Trim ocean tides bitty dots patterned paper and die cut scallop edge, then ink edges and adhere to kraft cardstock.

On berry sorbet cardstock strip, stamp "birthday" and pop off card front.
With white gel pen, fill in diamond background pattern.
Adhere berry sorbet cardstock to a rustic cream A2 card base. Ink the edges.
Tips & Tricks
For added dimension on leaves and flowers, adhere with a tacky glue on the inside and curl the paper upwards to make it pop up a bit.
If your sentiment will not fit on your cardstock block, consider breaking it up and stamping it on a contrast cardstock color and pop it up for dimension.

Hey there, Bleeps! I hope you enjoyed your weekend! I got the chance to head over to Archiver's in Raleigh and enjoyed a good hour and half visit there! I took my time, perused the aisles and even picked up patterned paper, a rare purchase for myself! I plan to share a few of my purchases with you on Wednesday. So, look for that later this week!
Last night, I started working on a card and couldn't finish it because I was too tired. I thought I would wake up early enough to finish it this morning, but that did not happen either! So, here is a card I made last weekend. It's a masculine birthday card that feels so 'natural.'

This post is dedicated to the celebration of our wedding anniversary (just a fair warning)! Four years ago today, McArthur and I decided to tie the knot. However, exactly 11 years ago when we started dating I knew we shared something special. We dated 7 years before Mac proposed and got married near our 8-year dating anniversary. So, when we celebrate our anniversary, it is not only our wedding anniversary, but our anniversary of our relationship.
I met Mac when I was 13 years old, he was 14. I traveled to North Carolina to attend a summer science and math camp for I think 1-2 months and he attended as well. We were friends, but merely that. At the end of the camp, we said our goodbyes and parted our ways, never to exchange numbers. We ran into each other twice since the camp, once in Baltimore and the other in Raleigh. Finally, in Raleigh he asked for my number and I gave him my pager number (the sign of the time)! I never returned his pages because the number was unrecognizable! HAHA One day, he saw me walking on campus (our third run-in) and he gave me a ride. I can remember that day so vividly, so clear. That was our last run-in because we never parted again.
Our journey together has been amazing. It's such a remarkable life experience to see someone, let alone your partner in life grow. Mac and I share a lot of commonalities, especially the arts; however, we also have our differences, such as he's the "talker" and I'm the "watcher." Whether we're celebrating 4 years of wedded bliss or 11 years of partnership, I'm so thankful for our time together and our relationship we have built.
Today, I say I love you to my husband, my partner, my best friend! Happy Anniversary, "Flave!" (...don't ask about the nickname, I give him a new one every so often and he does the same to me!)
The photos of us above are in chronological order from old to new. I wish I gave more time to this to dig up and scan some really old ones so you can see how young we looked, but darn it, I ran out of time.
Thanks for stopping by to share this day with us and I hope you enjoy the card, which was quite difficult to make. It is inspired by SCS Sketch SC255.
Instructions
Trim navy carstock to create an A2 card base.
Trim white cardstock into a block and adhere to card front center.
Trim green cardstock strip and adhere to card front.
Trim kraft cardstock block, stamp text background, stamp leaves, stamp sentiment, and adhere with foam adhesive on card front.
Happy Weekend to "My Bleeps!" Oh how I love and live for the weekends! Don't get me wrong, every day matters and I am very thankful for each day, but there's some extra special about sleeping in on a Saturday that gets me excited!
Anyway, today I am sharing a quick and easy holiday card I created for Papertrey Ink's Guest Star Stamper contest. This card can be a bit more simplified by reducing the snowflake embellishment (so that it actually fits comfortably in an envelope). Tonight is the night of the release party! I pretty much always 'attend,' but for some reason this month I'm really excited! I got so excited that I made this card for the contest! I have not entered in a while and I realized that I actually missed it. So, here goes nothing! I hope to see you later tonight in the forum to say heeeeeeeey!
Enjoy your weekend!
Instructions
Trim pure poppy cardstock to create an A2 card base.
Punch snowflakes from patterned paper and assemble together with foam adhesive (3 punched snowflakes on this card).
Add a button to the center of the assembled snowflakes and set aside.
Stamp stripe design at the top center of card front.
Hey there, Bleeps! Today, I'm sharing something old, but not really! I never got a chance to share the projects I submitted for 2S4Y design team. There were two sketches to use, one by Laura and the other by Kazan. For the first, I made a notepad, inspired by Mish's notepads by Papertrey Ink. The second card is just a happy-go-lucky card!
Thanks for visiting and enjoy your day!
Instructions - This & That
Trim ocean tides cardstock to fit notepad template.
Stamp one side with polka dots.
Trim lined patterned paper, ink edges, then adhere to right side of note pad cover.
Trace a half circle, cut out, then adhere to notepad front.
Tie ribbon around notepad into a bow.
Add button and twine.
Punch scallop circle and circle.
Stamp circle edge and sentiment and adhere to make a tag.
Hey there, Bleeps! I hope you had a great weekend. Here is a card I made last week featuring Cut Card Stock papers! I LOVE their shimmer cardstock. I'm not sure if you can see it here, but I used it on the white and gold. That gold cardstock is so crisp and rich. It's a definite for holiday card/project designs! I can't wait to use more of it.
I'll be back later to share this week's 2S4Y card/sketch! I hope you will stop back by around 9:00 am and participate in this week's challenge!
Thanks for visiting and enjoy your Monday!
Instructions
Trim brown cardstock to an A2 card base.
Trim gold cardstock into a wide strip and punch decorative edge.
Adhere gold cardstock strip to card front.
Stamp images on white cardstock and cut out, then pop off card front.
Add rhinestones.
On pink cardstock, stamp sentiment and punch circle, then adhere to center image.
Trim pink cardstock strips and adhere to card front.
This card features a patterned paper as a focal point. I liked it so much that I did not bother adding a sentiment on the front. I left it for the inside (a birthday card). You can do this with all those kits that include matching patterned paper or even use your scraps.
Sorry about the short post today, but I'm tired.
Thanks for visiting my blog and enjoy your day!
Card Instructions
Make an A2 card with spring moss cardstock.
Trim white cardstock into a rectangle.
Trim strips of patterned paper and apply to white cardstock.
Add a scallop edge border.
Tie ribbon into a bow.
Adhere to card front using foam adhesive.

Yes! It's Friday EVE! I'm excited because the weather is going to start warming up today and through the weekend here in DC!
I used SCS Color Challange for inspiration. I wanted to use the Sketch Challenge too, but I'm not too good with sketches, so that didn't work out! ;) I also wanted to use some new stamp sets I won from Paper Crafts Stamp It Week contest. They aren't stamp sets I would usually buy, so I liked working with them. I used two in this card, plus a PTI stamp (couldn't resist)!
Do you see that vintage frame? Isn't it so striking? I really like it and I picked it up last week at Michaels when they were having their Easter sale. There are four frames in each package and they are made to coordinate with other Sabrina Making Memories items.
This card took me FOREVER to make. Not because I was slow cutting or something, but because I couldn't figure out the layout, what to add, embellishments, etc. Finally, it all came together. I'm just glad I had the time to devote to it. I'll sure be happy to make a fast card for tomorrow's post and be done in a JIFFY!
One of my life's moments included a FAST and easy white chicken pizza I made last night. Have you ever had leftover chicken breast? Well, if you do (or if you just buy those grilled chicken strips in the deli section) you can make this pizza super fast. I've made it before, but this time I decided to share! I discovered the recipe from Sandra Lee from the Food Network. Here is the real recipe!
Ingredients
1 Crescent Rolls package 1 Bag of Mozzarella Cheese Bit of Spinach (optional) 1 Chicken Breast cut into small bite-size pieces 2 Tbsp Alfredo Sauce (maybe less)
Instructions
Roll out crescents into one sheet (will be a rectangle shape).
Apply alfredo sauce lightly over the dough.
Add chicken breast, spinach, and mozzarella cheese.
Bake in oven at 375 degrees for about 10 minutes (or until done).
Yummy as an appetizer if you cut into mini squares, a quick lunch, or if you're like us a dinner! :) I hope you enjoy!
Thank you so much for stopping by today. I truly appreciate you all! Have a great Thursday and enjoy life's moments.

OMG...I actually did a scrapbook page! What's the motivation? Well, there are a couple of reasons. On Saturday, I directed my first family photo session (helping my hubby, Mac, the photographer). I didn't know what to expect, but I came prepared with notes, ideas, and a great attitude that it would work! It all turns out that Layla, who is featured in the photo above, is a natural model and responded well to my direction! The photos turned out so well, I decided to scrapbook a page to capture it in its full form. My other reason for scrapbooking (so quickly) was to participate in American Crafts weekly challenge. This past week, they challenged designers to use three different sets of thickers in one layout! GOT IT!
Wanna see a few of the photos? Click here! So proud of Mac...he's a really GREAT photographer! I'm so happy to be able to scrap great photos now! :)
Here's what I did
I started with an 8.5" x 11" page, added the photo, then strips of paper, pom poms, and buttons. The strip of summer sunrise cardstock is stamped with a circle image from PTI Retro Background Basics! I adhered a small button on top of a large button for added dimension. Boy, I've been WAITING to use that big button...you just don't know how happy I am about the button! The scallop edge on the right side is a short-cut strip by Bazzill that I stamped using PTI Damask Designs in raspberry fizz + summer sunrise! I cut a strip of Amy Butler pink damask fabric and wrapped it around until I created a flower and adhered a glittered brad to the center! I folded a piece of spring moss cardstock and cut two leaves to confirm that "it's a flower." Next, I stamped a border at the bottom, added an eyelet (by SU!-it says, "too cute to handle"), and of course the thickers. I embellished the remainder of the page using my white gel pen, rhinestones, and a curly label punch.
I'm giving it to Mom + Dad in a Making Memories shadow box. I really wanted one last minute and couldn't find one - even online (I probably didn't look hard enough). So, I was at Target yesterday, checked out the framed section...NOTHING...then was in the scrapbook section and found it...not there, but by the photo albums...YES YES YES! I knew it was meant to be! I'm such a 'signs' person!!
Have a great Thursday! Thanks so much for stopping by!
